Dear App State Family Member,
You are registered for a virtual Parent & Family Orientation session tomorrow, June 15. Below is your itinerary for the day, as well as a few tips to help you get started:
Check in with your student
By the morning of their Orientation session, your student should have:
Technology
The preferred device for our sessions is a computer or a mobile device larger than a phone, as all of our live sessions will be happening via Zoom. Please familiarize yourself with the Zoom platform prior to joining your Orientation session. Click here for Zoom video tutorials.
Accessing your virtual sessions:
- All live Zoom sessions are linked in your schedule below
- The password for ALL of the Zoom Webinars and Zoom Meetings will be: appstate (all lower case).
- When logging into Zoom Webinar, you may be prompted to enter your name and email address. That helps our team to take attendance.
- Problems accessing meetings? Email orientation@appstate.edu or parents@appstate.edu. Be sure to include a phone number for us to reach you. You can also call (828) 262-8284 to troubleshoot issues by phone.
Working Together
Several of our sessions are designed for students and family members to attend together. However, we encourage students to initiate questions and take the lead on planning their Fall course schedule. Students will participate in SOUL Time, Academic Essentials, The Appalachian Way, and afternoon advising sessions on their own. You can view the full New Student Orientation Schedule Here.
