There are a handful of repetitive themes that always emerge across my clients as they embark and make their way through their exercise journeys. It's very unlikely to coast on your exercise journey and not have an issue or two along the way. The common issues I see across clients can be summed up under the below headings:
 
* Consistency: Issues across both exercise + nutrition adherence, which are often caused by lifestyle stressors/ changes in environment and/or routines. Clients show an inability to be comfortable and flexible with changes week to week. 

* Actually not being ready to start: Starting to partake because you know you should, not because you actually want to move or make better choices for internal reasons.

* Being defensive/ shutting down communication ports: Shutting down or ignoring conversations, when discussing why there could be an issue or how we could amend your schedule to help your success. 

If you are taking the time to reach out to a professional then please trust the advice/ recommendations they are giving you. Usually by this point of time, you yourself have tried a multitude of things that you couldn't maintain yourself, hence why you are seeking help from an external source. There is always something that will work for you, but often it will take time to get the 'recipe' right. You are going to need patience, you are going to have to be open and flexible to change, and you are going to feel uncomfortable and out of your league some of the time.

Spirited Women Adventure Race 2022: Join the Weekend Warriors Group!

It is great to see so many Te Anau based teams registered for the 2022 Spirited Women's Adventure race in Wanaka next year. If you are from outside the Te Anau basin and have also registered feel free to join our wekeend warriors Facebook group. I will be posting monthly focuses on this page, and we also hope to run a weekend training camp late January/ early February here in Te Anau so you are confident across disciplines and upskilled for adventure racing.
