A Note from the Head Coach regarding Regattas & VSRC Championships:
Now that restrictions have been lifted and we are moving to regattas with heats and finals, we all can get the true regatta experience! Heats are scheduled for first thing in the morning or shortly after the midday break, with finals taking place ~2-3 hours after the heat. We've missed the whole team being able to watch races and cheer for your teammates, so as soon as the regatta schedule is released, we'll message out the team schedule and please be there to support your teammates and watch some excellent races. As soon as our last event has concluded, we will all be needed to help to load the trailer. We have gotten permission to dock at the point after heats if we qualify for finals and we will have a tent setup for athletes to recover and watch races from there. Coaches will be in communication with athletes about what to do following heats. We are hoping for a long day with two races for all our boats so make sure to bring plenty of water and food/money (cash) to buy food!
States (VSRC) is currently scheduled for June 18 and June 19. Non-championships events are scheduled for June 18th. These events include Novice 8s and 4s, Freshman 8s and 4s, and lower 8s. All championship events are scheduled for June 19th which include the varsity 4s, 2nd and Junior 4s, and Junior 8s. If there are not enough entries to require heats and finals for events on June 18, everything will be moved to Saturday, June 19th. With tight numbers for filling our boats, attendance for practice that week and at the regatta is crucial. Every other regatta is preparation and practice to put our best product on the water at States. We all want to end our year on a high note and head into next season with momentum.
