Cornwall's NHS urges people to use 111 during G7 summit

The NHS is advising anyone living or visiting St Ives, Falmouth, Newquay and the surrounding areas affected by next week’s G7 summit to think ahead and to make sure they know how to get help, if needed.

If you need urgent health advice, please call your own GP first. If you’re visiting Cornwall, please call the GP where you are registered and not the one closest to where you are staying. When they’re closed, please call 111 or visit 111.nhs.uk. Please do not turn up at a minor injuries unit (MIU), or urgent treatment centre (UTC) without contacting 111 first.

If after contacting 111, you need to attend an MIU or UTC, you will be given details of where to go. Pharmacies are also open and can provide advice and treatment for minor ailments such as bites and burns, and emergency medication. Some are also open late at night.

G7 updates

The G7 website has the latest information for residents including how Cornwall Council is working hard to make this a covid-19 secure event.

With just one week to go until the event begins, strict security measures are being put in place across all G7 sites. This may cause some disruption to residents in these areas.

Top tips to prep for self-isolation

Self-isolating is just one of the ways we can stop the virus spreading and keep our cases low here in Cornwall.

Would you be able to self-isolate and not leave home if you started to feel unwell or got a positive test?

Our public health team have got some top tips on how to be prepared in case you suddenly need to stay at home.

Hey Human song for leaders

"Hey Human" is a single released by children to give their message to the G7 leaders.

The single is one of the 7 Songs for G7, a project developed by Cornwall Council’s Education Music Hub and delivered by the Cornwall County Choirs.

It was written by Cornwall based songwriter Tanya Brittain and recorded by children from Marazion and Stoke Climsland.

Free covid testing for everyone

Anyone in Cornwall can now get free twice-weekly Covid-19 tests.

Here are three reasons why it’s important

Not everyone has been offered the vaccine yet
One in three people have no symptoms
Society can open up more safely so we can continue on the roadmap.

The tests are free and easy to collect from your local pharmacy or drive-through collection site. You can also order them online for delivery to your home.

Ask for ANI

Do you know about the Ask for ANI code word?

Anyone experiencing domestic abuse can access support by asking for ANI at their local pharmacy.

Participating pharmacies will display the #AskforANI logo.
