Dear <<First Name>>,

At the last ITTE AGM, members voted to adopt the TPEA (Technology, Pedagogy and Education Association) Constitution and become part of the charity. We have recently launched the new TPEA website with additional benefits for members and, earlier this week, sent out the first TPEA Newsletter (copied for you below).

As a consequence, we are now inviting all ITTE members and Newsletter subscribers to register on the TPEA website to continue to receive emails and access other resources. You can register for a free TPEA Member account to continue to receive the newsletter or subscribe to a Members+ account to receive our journal and online access to other peer-reviewed journals, event discounts and more.

To register and continue receiving emails please our website www.tpea.ac.uk

This mailing list will shortly be closed and emails will only be sent to TPEA Members and Members+. You don't need to do anything to unsubscribe from this list as we will do this automatically.

Below, you will find the first TPEA News with information about our upcoming online event for new members, some of our latest blogs, a selection of articles from our partner journals and some news from the Education sector.

TPEA News - May 2021
Welcome Event for New Members - 9th June, 7-8pm (online)
Professor Christina Preston will be hosting an online TPEA meeting over Zoom. Without a face-to-face conference last year or this, it's harder for new (and old) members to meet each other and find out how they can get the most out of our organisation.

This is a chance for you to meet Christina and other members of the TPEA Executive Committee and find out more about TPEA and how it can support you. While the meeting is intended for those new to TPEA, it's open to all who want to re-connect with the association.

For more information and the joining details, please visit www.tpea.ac.uk/events

Can't make it? Don't worry there will be more opportunities to meet online at our summer online conference details coming soon.

Education Roundup
NPQ Providers Announced

The DfE have recently announced the new national providers for National Professional Qualifications. The new NPQs include specifications for new specialist qualifications in: Leading TeachingBehaviour and Culture and Teacher Development. As these specifications show, there are few references to technology so plenty of scope for members to develop complementary courses that address the gaps in the specifications. Judging from the initial course offerings, we might expect the majority of these new NPQs to have a high proportion of online learning.
New Teaching Schools and an Institute of Teaching
The DfE have also announced the 87 new Teaching School Hubs. Find your nearest hub on this map. These are expected to take a key role in delivering the new two-year induction for Early Career Teachers and also play a key role in Initial Teacher Training. At the same time, DfE continue working on the ITT Market Review (see recent responses from UCET and their Teach Best campaign) and have tendered for a new Institute of Teaching to become a flagship provider.
New Ofsted ITT Report
On the 19th May, Ofsted published Teaching teachers during COVID-19 a summary of their research visits to ITT providers over the Spring 2021. The report acknowledges the hard work and support for trainees that providers have demonstrated during Covid but, disappointingly, doesn't reflect this very challenging context in its conclusions about the quality of programmes. Some providers have already expressed disappointment in the tone of the report.
Edtech Demonstrator Programme
The Edtech Demonstrator Programme is continuing with a new lead organisation despite concerns over conflicts of interest.
BRIST

There's a new newsletter from the BRIST project - Building a Research Infrastructure for School Teachers. Several TPEA members are involved in this project to support and empower teachers.
