A Message from Rev. Bob

Hello Grace and St Peter’s,

Great news this week:  On Sunday, we will return to our own campus!  On Sunday, we will worship in our beautiful sanctuary!  On Sunday, we will quietly(!) sing a hymn or two!

Please keep in mind that we will ask everyone to wear a mask and to keep an appropriate distance from folks who are not members of their own household.  In keeping with our summer tradition, there will be one service at 9AM.  After the service, we will head out to the rectory backyard for coffee and conversation.  Depending on your comfort level and your vaccination status you may or may not wish to remain masked at that time.  More detailed instructions will be given at the service itself.

Thanks to everyone who completed our parish survey.  We will certainly take your preferences into account as we plan worship going forward.  Above all, there seems to be lots of positive energy regarding outdoor worship, so look for an occasional outdoor service in the months to come.  As well, we will continue to broadcast our services in the virtual realms on zoom and facebook.

Before closing, I want to acknowledge that, because the Hamden Memorial Day parade was cancelled and because we tuned into an ECCT fifth Sunday service for Trinity Sunday, we did not get a chance to remember and honor together those who have died while serving in our nation’s military.  I am not aware of any past parish members who gave their lives in this way—I am guessing that there may be a few—but we can give thanks for all who have done so regardless of their faith, community or traditions.  May their sacrifice not be in vain.   May, one day, all people in this country and throughout the world live in peace, prosperity and freedom.

Dinner For A Dollar

On May 29th, Allison Batson served a meal of hot dogs, beans, potato salad, and watermelon.  Assorted desserts finished off the meal.  Approximately 80 people dined with us.

Thank you Allison, and all those who make D4$ a success!

FAITH STUDY GROUP

The Faith Study Group is returning to its accustomed meeting schedule, i.e. the SECOND and FOURTH TUESDAY of every month.  We continue to meet  via Zoom, beginning with casual conversation at around 6:30, and moving to focused discussion at 7:00 pm.

The Faith Study Group is open to all.  There is no “homework” or advance reading for the meetings, and no question is too basic or too complicated.  Regular or occasional participation are both welcome.

If you would like to find out more, or if you’re interested in joining in the Faith Study Group and would like a copy of the book, please contact Gretchen Pritchard at 203-624-2520 or sundaypaper@snet.net. Please also let Gretchen know if you’d like to be on the Faith Study Group e-mailing list to receive reminders of the meetings and the Zoom log-in invitation.
