Hello Stanton! I hope this message finds you and your family well. As we enjoy this warmer weather, I am excited to get everyone ready for National Parks and Recreation Month and California’s Parks Make Life Better Month, in July! Parks are at the center of so many experiences and memories —they are places to gather with friends and family, spaces to celebrate life’s special moments, spots of calm and healing, sites that connect us with essential community services, and so much more.

This year’s theme for Park and Recreation Month is “Our Park and Recreation Story,” and we want to hear your stories about how parks make your life better. Check the back of your Stanton Express, and our social media pages for upcoming contests and activities to celebrate our love for parks!

Weekend Coverage for Outreach Coordinator

We are happy to announce that starting this weekend the Public Safety Department will have a second Outreach Coordinator working full-time to provide services seven days a week to persons experiencing homelessness. Our two Outreach Coordinators are a valuable asset to our community, providing vital service connections and ensuring our clients are receiving the assistance they need. Staff have had continued success daily and often partner with staff at the Family Resource Center to provide food and other emergency items to our clients.

New Website Launch, June 28

Get ready for a brand new look! This year, staff have been working with the website design agency, ReviZe, to develop a new City of Stanton website, focusing on enhanced customer service, public information and community engagement. Our goal is to provide residents, visitors and businesses with a top-tier website that marries high-level functionality and exceptional user experience with cutting-edge tech and design elements.

The new website is set to launch on Monday, June 28 and will be located at StantonCA.gov, with our current site (ci.stanton.ca.us) redirecting to this page. Keep an eye out for more details to come!

Beach Blvd. Repaving Project

Beginning in August of this year, Caltrans will be repaving the entirety of Beach Boulevard within the City. Construction will consist of the grinding of the top layer of existing asphalt and replacing it with rubberized asphalt, creating a smoother drive for our commuters on our main throughway.

Streets will also receive new striping and stenciling to complete the overall look and increase driver safety. The project is expected to take three months to complete and is funded entirely by Caltrans. After much petitioning of Caltrans by City Council and City staff, we are very proud to bring you a brand-new Beach Boulevard for your daily drive.

Save the Date! Upcoming Summer Fun!

We’re back! Our Movies Under that Stars Series will be held at Stanton Central Park on Fridays in July, beginning with a showing of the Lion King on Friday, July 9. Movies will begin at sunset, with pre-movie games and other activities for families to enjoy. Participants are welcome to bring snacks, blankets, chairs and anything else you need to enjoy a movie under the stars! Pre-registration and masks will be required, please visit bit.ly/StantonMUTS to register today.
