It’s official! Thanks to supporters like you, the new home of Meals on Wheels San Antonio is on its way! Because of this new step in Meals on Wheels San Antonio’s history, we now have the opportunity to do something truly phenomenal in our community.
We have made no secret of the exponential increase in need in our community for the services of Meals on Wheels, but the good news is we’ve secured construction of the building, the first step in ensuring we are growing our infrastructure to meet the need in our community.
This new building will be a physical representation of the hard work, dedication, and commitment of a community that cares, and we are so excited we get the opportunity to continue working on it with you! If you missed our recent groundbreaking, no worries! You can watch the full event here:
We know a lot has happened this past year. COVID-19 has made all of us re-adjust and make decisions based on the health and safety of those we love, and that may have meant stepping backing from some of your favorite meal delivery clients.
On the client-side, demand for the services of Meals on Wheels has never been higher. We have seen an increase in client demand, but an 80% drop in volunteer availability meaning fewer people to deliver to more seniors. And we get it.
That is why we have been hard at work making changes to ensure the health and safety of volunteers, staff, and clients have not been compromised. From redesigning the pick-up process to allow for quicker and safer meal pickup to partnering with community organizations to ensure the hundreds of clients we have been able to help get vaccinated continues to grow. We continue to provide resources to volunteers such as information about vaccinations and guideline updates as well.
Today, as we look to increase post-pandemic operations, we can confidently say two things: Your community needs you NOW more than ever, and there has never been a better time to deliver!
This month when you donate to Meals on Wheels San Antonio your donation can count double! We've been offered the opportunity to receive a grant to match up to $100,000 in community donations. But It's only during the month of JUNE!!
You can give once this month, but give double the food, double the visits, and double the safety.
Rosemarie's been delivering more than a meal since 2019. She understands the needs of those we serve because she was a caregiver for her own mother. Learn her favorite part about volunteering and about how special this opportunity is to her.
Every month, in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association, Meals on Wheels San Antonio hosts a caregiver support group where caregivers come to find resources, ideas, and, most importantly, support.

This year, on Saturday, July 24 at 7:30 pm, Taylor'd for You is providing a unique, virtual experience, featuring creatives all across Texas, that will celebrate Meals on Wheels San Antonio and all of the incredible work we are doing in our community.
