Happy Birthday to US!

Good Morning Dear Customers

We've eaten the cake, the votes have been cast and the favourite declared, and the sixty-plus attendees at our tenth birthday whisky tasting—some of whom were at our first tasting ever, way back in 2011—have made their purchases.

You dear folk can now do so too. Two of these lovely drams are on sale at our Bath Street shop and (in limited quantities) at our Hyndland branch at 21 Clarence Drive. The third bottling is still at the bottling plant

And if you're not in Glasgow, then some bottles will make their way online on Monday. We're being very vague about exactly when, as we're still figuring out how best to manage demand for online sales, so for now we'll leave it at "Monday".

The last ten years have been enormous fun, and last night's tasting reminded us that best part of selling whisky is that you get to meet fellow whisky drinkers. So thank you all so very much for sharing drams with us over the years. for giving us your hard earned cash, and for joining us on the journey.

Cheers

The Good Spirits Co.

THREE NEW WHISKIES

(We're sending this email before the bottles are available online, so there's no direct link; just head on over to the website on Monday and type "Birthday" into the search box.)

Pretty much the most fun you can have as a whisky retailer is to select and bottle a cask. We thought we ought to do something special for our tenth birthday, so we've picked out three casks with the aim of providing something for every palate. Of course, you might have to buy all three to decide which one suits you best...

The Good Spirits Co. 10th Birthday Girvan 30 Year Old (£95, 70cl/50.7%)

We love a grain whisky, and this is a great example. Bottled at an ideal drinking strength of 50.7%, it's full of the classic grain notes of coconut, caramel, and vanilla. The food pairing, as established at the birthday tasting, is Tang-fastics. There were just 100 bottles (leaky casks - they taste great (yay!) but there's never enough liquid (boo!)).

Ardnamurchan AD/05:15 CK.181 - Good Spirits Co. 10th Birthday Exclusive (£85, 70cl/58.8%)

For such a youthful malt this is remarkably mature and mellow. The flavours range through biscuity malt, honey, and heavy cream. With water it becomes juicy and some lemon-lime citrus notes evolve. We've been big fans of Ardnamurchan since the early spirit drink releases, and we're very pleased to have gotten our hands on this cask - the first ever official unpeated Ardnamurchan.

North Star X The Good Spirits Co. Benrinnes 10 Year Old (£57.50, 70cl/61.1%)

North Star pulled a bit of a flanker with this one. Right up until the point it was sent for bottling we believed we were getting a refill sherry hoggie. As you can see from the number of bottles, it's a butt. The good thing is, that means there's loads of it. The bad thing is, it's still at the bottling hall. The good thing is, we are taking pre-orders. The best thing? It's delicious.
