Summer is ... happening

Here's what you need to know today

Provincial Lockdown Orders lifted ...
summer is officially in the air

Yes, yes we will.

We are going to start club on July 5, as planned.

We don't know if we will be able to go all summer....no one knows this. But we will start as planned. And hope for the best.

All details will be announced in our newsletter next week.

WHOO-HOO 🎉 🎇 !!

Back in April when we opened registration, we launched our registration process with a pre-registration layer so that if we needed to cancel everything, you would receive a full refund.

At this point, the Board feels that we can plan for our summer, and we're going to get back out on the lake this year. Next week we will announce the key dates for when the payments will be processed.

SOMETHING TO KNOW

Right now, it appears that we will only be able to offer single-handed sailing....this is based on recommendations from the Ontario Sailing Association, based on Government of Ontario Regulations that accord with Stage Two, which is where we believe we will be landing on or around July 5.

Don't worry, our instructor team is ready and waiting to get a whole bunch of new Skippers up to speed.

And who knows, guidance may change, especially given the influx to the vaccines in this province, and the availability of them for teens.

We are so relieved, AND GRATEFUL, with our fundraising campaign from last fall. Our Board worked really (really) hard to secure these new boats to make sure our program could run this summer if we needed more single-handed boats...some of them are coming all the way from Tenessee.

Yeah Us. Yeah you.

Now let's get these boats out on the water and fill them with happy kids.

Very best to you and yours,

SLSC Board

If you know already that your plans have changed this summer...if that camp you signed up for is cancelled, or there's another that's now going ahead....if you've discovered a new passion and you've enrolled in a camp elsewhere, great.

Just let us know, please. The sooner the better.

We are still working on our final plans, and trying to figure out how we can maximize this program to be able to offer the most sailing, to the most kids, while trying NOT to turn anyone who wants to come away because we are full...

So please, EMAIL us if your registration details have shifted.

No, the Checklist Waitlist system does NOT allow you to go in and change your details. This will need to be done on our back end.

So, SEND AN EMAIL with names and details of any registrations that have changed.

TIA

SLSC SWAG IS HERE !!

Just in time for summer, the swag is here and available.

This year the order will only be done online, not in Sarah's Shop at the boathouse.

So if you or your kids are keen, please place your order HERE

Pick-up will be curbside at SLSC, and we'll be in touch once we have the goods there. Expect 2-4 weeks turn-around, so order now for the summer!

Let's get out there on the water and sail!!

Haven't registered yet?
No Problem

Follow this process
to register through Checklick

For Checklick
follow this link to get to the SLSC 2021 program page.

  1. Go to Checklick.com and either set up an account or log in to your existing account
**SLSC has been using this system for years, so you likely have an account if you're a returning sailor. This year to address Covid concerns, Checklick added a "waitlist" layer to their system which we will use for our Pre-Registration

  2. Choose the session/s that you want to register for

  3. This action will be considered Pre-Registration

  4. You will register with your credit card, but you WILL NOT be charged

  5. When we have more certainty about the summer, your Pre-Registration will become an official Registration, and then your credit card will be charged the full amount

**NOTE: we send you a notification by email prior to this
**Also note that we may need to shift and adjust these times and dates based on Provincial Guidelines....Just know that we will be in contact with you as it happens.

SO I STILL HAVE A FEW QUESTIONS...
QUESTION:
How can I know if I’m on the Waitlist or not?
And what position is it?

ANSWER:
If you register your child through the Checklick system,
you will be put on our initial waitlist.

Once the planning phase is over, and we are cleared to
open registration, we will open up spots
and people on the waitlist will come off and
become fully registered -- you will be
notified prior to this happening.

If we have more people interested than we appear to
have space for, we will keep a waitlist
for those interested people.

The waitlist isn't something that we can publish,
because it's based on sailing level, cohort size, boat
partners, and other things we don't even see
yet in this fast-changing world.

Know that we want to get everyone that we can
out onto the water this summer, and that our new our
waitlist system is the best way to help facilitate that happening.

QUESTION:
What happens if I’m not quite in the right
sailing level, eg, I’m two checkmarks away
from CanSail3, but still in CanSail2?

ANSWER:
Our Instructors will make every reasonable effort
to make sure that the structure of the cohorts
will maximize the experience of the program.
**Please contact us directly if you have
a specific concern about this.

EMAIL US

Our Instructors will be assessing all sailors to
ensure they are placed in the correct
CanSail level for their ability, and will help the sailors to access
the missing items as soon as is possible.

QUESTION:
What happens if we’re new to Sturgeon Point and
our kids are older but still want to learn to sail?

ANSWER:
Great! We LOVE to hear this and welcome all
new sailors to SLSC, at ANY age. Please reach out
to us directly so that we can help find a way to
make this happen, and make it fun. We have ideas...
QUESTION:
My plans are still open, what is the deadline to register
for a new session, assuming there is space still available?

ANSWER:
This is new. The deadline to advise SLSC of changes is now
two weeks prior to the start of the session. We need to do this because
there is much more planning that needs to go into this year.
We just cannot adapt the morning-of like we used to.
Amazing...you read this whole thing.
Now it's time to go HERE to register
