SOLANA BEACH POTTERY

Meet our friends, the Stewarts.

Sisters Kristyn and Alyx (with rescue puppy Bowie) and their dad Tyler are the talent behind Solana Beach Pottery

Inspired by a visit to a small village in France by the name of Saint-Quentin-la-Poterie, the Stewart family fell in love with this lively village filled with potters, who were scattered throughout the tiny medieval villages’ maze of twisted streets.

“The inspiration gleaned from visiting this amazing French village took root and ultimately led to our own ceramic studio. Located Solana Beach, California, we have taken what we have learned in France and adapted it to reflect our own unique ocean and beach oriented style. All members of our immediate family have since taken up a variety of roles in this home based business.

We all thoroughly enjoy creating objects that start with clay, one of earth’s most basic elements and turning them into collectable pieces of highly functional and artistic beauty. Firing the clay shape to very high temperatures a kiln, and then adding the elements of oxidation and glazes produce magical results that truly amaze us every time we open up the kiln and ultimately drive our passion."

Solana Beach Pottery sources their raw materials from Laguna Clay, a US company that has been providing the ceramics community with high quality goods since 1976. Come discover the beautiful colors and textures of the masterpieces of Solana Beach Pottery! Each unique piece is truly a work of art. You’ll find mugs, bowls, dishes, vases, candle holders, succulent pots, sponge holders, earrings and more. Treat yourself or find the perfect gift.

Visit www.solanabeachpottery.com for more information about their amazing techniques!  In addition to finding Solana Beach Pottery at our market a few times each month, you’ll find them at the La Jolla Art and Wine Festival on October 9 & 10.
ROOTSHINE TURMERIC

Did you know that consuming turmeric (curcumin) with piperine (black pepper extract) has extreme health benefits and is recommended for many people for daily consumption? Not only is turmeric a powerful antioxidant and helpful in treating inflammation, it is also known to treat high blood pressure, high cholesterol, insulin sensitivity and helps decrease pain and increases function in people with osteoarthritis. Additionally, turmeric is said to slow brain aging, improve performance on sustained attention and working memory tasks. Studies have shown that mood (general fatigue and change in state calmness, contentedness, and fatigue induced by psychological stress) were significantly better following consumption of turmeric.

We are grateful to have Rootshine Turmeric at our market each Sunday. Started as a delivery service, Rootshine’s business spread through word of mouth before they starting selling at local farmer’s markets 4 years ago. Their products are made in Oceanside by hand in small batches, using ingredients that are organic, thoughtfully researched and carefully selected.

Rootshine’s Turmeric Tonic is the perfect way to get your daily dose of this incredible superfood. Made from fresh organic turmeric root from Kaui Organic Farms, this highly nutritious tonic is juiced using a slow-masticating juicer, which only exposes the fresh turmeric juice to the air for 10 minutes, protecting and preserving the juice and curcumin.

Made from the healthiest and creamiest coconut milk, robust yet smooth fresh turmeric, organic maple syrup, organic Ceylon cinnamon, and black pepper extract to maximize the bioavailability and healing properties of the curcumin in the turmeric, Rootshine’s Organic Vegan Goldenmilk can be enjoyed in a cup of warm alkaline water, in your coffee or tea, or mixed into oatmeal smoothies.

Come visit our friends at Rootshine every Sunday near the covered lunch arbor!
