UPDATE - TASMAN HIGHWAY CLOSURE NEAR ORFORD

Last week, the Department of State Growth announced the closure of the Tasman Highway at Paradise Gorge, west of Orford, for several weeks, starting 11:55 pm on Friday 28 May 2021, in the interests of public safety.

The Department has provided an update and frequently asked questions about the closure which is available to download in the button below.

Further information and updates on the emergency works will be available on the Transport website www.transport.tas.gov.au/

Heavy vehicle operators who have concerns or questions about available detours should contact hvaccess@stategrowth.tas.gov.au for a conversation about their particular circumstances.

Trucks on Wielangta Road are discouraged and Lake Leake Road is encouraged as a better option for this detour given the condition of Wielangta Road, even with the additional maintenance and improvement works.

General advice for businesses affected by the closure and who have any questions or would like further information are encouraged to contact Business Tasmania on 1800 440 026 or ask@business.tas.gov.au

For the public, they are best to regularly check www.facebook.com/roadsTAS or www.transport.tas.gov.au and to report a hazard on the state road network, or for information about the closure, contact 1300 139 933.

Please contact TTA if you have questions or concerns or issues you would like us to investigate for you in response to the closure of the Tasman Highway.

ZEPS CAFE SUPPORT FOR EAST COAST COMMUNITIES

ZEPS Cafe at Campbell Town is stepping up to support people from the East Coast Communities who may have additional travel associated with the temporary closure of the Tasman Highway.  ZEPS is offering a "Driver Reviver" for residents of Orford, Triabunna and Swansea which includes a complimentary standard coffee and a choice of either takeaway soup, savoury or sweet cabinet item.

ZEPS is also exploring the notion of establishing a community freight hub, where small parcels can be dropped off / picked up, to further support the community.  Click to download the flyer at the button below for more information and contact details.
These are great initiatives of the Management and Staff at ZEPS!
