Flowerpot Music written by celebrated composer Elliot Cole and directed by Peter Ferry, is a musical soundscape for an unlikely but beautiful instrument, played by professional percussionists and non-musicians alike. Two performances by the entry gazebo.

John Luther Adams' songbirdsongs will be performed at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm, south of the marketplace, in front of the Boathouse. Each performance is 15 minutes long. Piccolos and percussion mimic sparrows, meadowlarks, blackbirds, and robins, as Orchestra 2001 musicians partner with our avian colleagues for music by the Pultizer Prize-winning composer/environmentalist. Danza de la Mariposa (Dance of the Butterflies) by Valerie Coleman will be performed by flutist Julietta Curenton at the Butterflies Live! pavilion, near Blume Village Food Court.

IN THE KEY OF L: Music Along SEPTA’s Market-Frankford Line will present Orchestra 2001 musicians and composers at train stops, parking lots, businesses, and murals along the "EL" train route that cuts through dozens of Philadelphia communities. The video below shows the beginning of three Philadelphia composers' new pieces responding to murals at stops in West Philadelphia and Kensington. This project is funded in part by grants from the Presser Foundation and The Musical Fund Society of Philadelphia.
