Message from your Acting President

Happy June, PGOSAns----hope you are renewing those memberships (we had almost 100 of you do so last week--and you are using the online feature to save time---great) so that you are eligible for to join your favourite Activity(s).

Walking Soccer, Cycling, Hiking/Walking Groups have all restarted this past week, Slo-pitch is in the final stages of setting up their Leagues and Paddling group will be arranging sessions....so contact your Activity Manager if you are still awaiting their communication on restarting your sport.

Activity Managers: If you wish to use the newsletter to advise membership of your restart information just send in a short write-up to PGOSA Chronicle.  Information for the PGOSA Calendar can be sent here.

Our Comprehensive Accident/Dental Insurance Policy was moved up to be effective as of June 1st, 2021 so you are all now covered by Accident, Dental and Liability coverage again.

As we are in Phase One of restart program, masks and distancing are still required by the PHO...let's adhere to the program...Phase 2 update will be announced on June 15th, 2021.

It is also imperative that members consider stepping up as either a Volunteer or a Board member----we will be holding an Indoor AGM sometime after the June 15th restart update is provided and we are aiming for a Tuesday morning as that is the "quietest" PGOSA Activity day.....so give it some serious thought.

You get out of something what you put into it.
Stay Active, Get Involved!

PGOSA Speaker Series

The PGOSA Speaker Series will continue in June with a presentation from Up Your Media. All sessions in this series will be conducted via Zoom.

Up next at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 23 will be Friend of PGOSA Up Your Media, featuring Dan LaRocque. Dan has been Parksville’s certified Apple specialist since 2009, offering repairs, upgrades and training on all Apple products.

This workshop is going to go all the way back to basics with a glossary of computer terms. “How big is a gigabyte, what’s an external hard drive, what’s the difference between POP and IMAP, what’s a router, which password is which, etc?"  It’s easier to understand and solve your own technical issue if you know the technical terms of what you’re dealing with. You can’t ask Google how to solve your problem if you don’t know how to describe your problem.
There will be a presentation followed by a Q & A.

To join the Zoom meeting, click this link: ZOOM
Details on logging into the Zoom session are also in the PGOSA Calendar.

* RSVP required. Contact Doug Williams to reserve your spot. We think this will be a very popular event - RSVP soon.
* Due to Zoom logistics, this session is only open to 2021 PGOSA members.
