What's happening in the Wichita area this month?

Wichita Pickleball now has an official website!

Great news, everyone! You no longer have to be on Facebook to stay connected with our #ICTpickleball family. ICTpickleball.com went live last month and has lots of helpful information about what's happening in our community, links to pickleball resources and videos, deals and discounts, and more. Whether or not you're on social media, you'll always be "in the know."

Good Times at Middle States Regional

The picture above pretty much sums up our 2021 USA Pickleball Middle States Regional Championships experience. We had about 30 members of our extended #ICTpickleball family travel to St. Louis to compete in various events and bring just as many medals back to Wichita.

Kudos to everyone who participated in the regional tournament and most specially to Tavon Morrow who earned Gold medals in all three of his events. He now has a golden ticket to the USA Pickleball National Championships for Men's Singles, Men's Doubles and Mixed Doubles.

Donnie Lesperance played in two events and nabbed Gold medals in both. Besides our two golden boys, the award for most decorated player of the tournament goes to ... (drum roll please) ... Erica Lopez. She successfully medaled in all three of her events, earning Gold medals in Women's Singles and Mixed Doubles, and a Bronze medal in Women's Doubles.

ICT Classic, June 12-13

Speaking of pickleball tournaments, we have one happening in Wichita next weekend. It will be held at the Ralph Wulz Riverside Tennis Center and will have Men's Doubles and Women's Doubles on Saturday, June 12, and Mixed Doubles on Sunday, June 13.

Great Plains Regionals, June 23-28

For those who didn't earn their golden ticket to Nationals at the Middle States Regional tournament last month, this Colorado tournament offers another chance.

We have several members of our #ICTpickleball family playing, though not nearly as many as those who participated in Middle States.

PICKLEMANIA MMXXI UPDATE

As most are already aware, the Rotary Club of Andover's pickleball tournament has been pushed to Saturday, June 19. All brackets are already full but spectators are welcome. You can purchase spectator tickets here.

Sorry to make this month's update a little tournament heavy but it is tournament season after all. Here's a bit of footwear advice from local pickeballer Cody Barnett. Cody is an orthopedic physical therapist and founder of Bodyworx Physical Therapy and Concussion Center. He graduated from Wichita State University (Go, Shockers!) and has been helping people overcome pain and injury since 1991. His shoe advice may be worth a listen.
