A Church for Circular Head - Making Disciples of Jesus

JUNE 2021
Bishop Richard Visit 13th June

Many of you will remember that Richard was meant to be with us for a few days back in March 2020. Unfortunately, as you may recall, something came up that month in the world that put a bit of a delay on his visit. However, God-willing, Richard shall be with us on Sunday 13th June.  I am sure it will be a great blessing to us all to hear him preach God’s word to us and will be a great opportunity for you to meet him. For many of you it will be your first time having a Bishop visit your church, so feel free to ask him those questions you ask me such as, what actually is a Bishop?

The Lord’s Prayer
This month we are finishing our series in the Lord’s Prayer. I hope this series has been an encouragement for us all to seek to be people of prayer. If there is one thing Circular Head needs, it is for the people of God to urgently call upon their Father in heaven in prayer, seeking him to act in our community for his glory, for his kingdom to come, and his will to be done here as it is in heaven.

12 Books to Change Your Life
Following on from the Bishop’s visit, we are going to undertake an ambitious plan of hearing from a different book of the Bible each week. We will journey through the 12 books of the minor prophets, from Hosea through to Malachi.

For most Christians, this is the least familiar part of the Bible, but I think we will find it both challenging and encouraging. Challenging, as we hear the prophets call the people of God to repentance. In doing so we will realise that the human heart within us living in 21st Century Circular Head really isn’t any different to the hearts the prophets were preaching to between the 5th and 8th Centuries BC. Encouraging, as we hear about the faithful enduring love of our God, of promises fulfilled in Christ, and others that give us hope of what is to come.

I am really looking forward to hearing what God has to say to us through this often neglected part of God’s word. Why don’t you start reading through the 12 books to help you get the most out of this series?

Kids Church
At Kids Church we are also learning about the Lord’s Prayer. As we learnt about ‘Your Kingdom come’, we made an invitation for a friend to invite them to church. We prayed that God will be King for our friends as he is for us.
School Chaplaincy Update: Emily Wynhoven
What chaplains do:
School chaplains provide preventative psychological support to students, staff and the wider school community by providing pastoral care and encouraging a culture of connection, and community.

Scripture Union:
Scripture Union Tasmania is an interdenominational Christian organisation that works with local churches and communities to bring hope and God’s Good News to children, young people and their families and help people of all ages meet with God through the Bible and prayer. We have worked in Tasmania for over 50 years through camps, missions, school programs, resources and school chaplaincy services.

How can you help your local School Chaplain?
Pray for your local chaplains, we would greatly appreciate being upheld in prayer.
  • Please pray for the transition of Scripture Union into a national body and the changing expectations and roles that are involved
  • Please pray that we will foster a culture of calm in the schools.
  • Please pray for wisdom and discernment for all school staff.
  • Please pray for continuing positive relationships with all staff and students
