CCL June 2021 Online Conference

Hi !

June is special for many reasons- graduations, weddings, the start of camping season, and the free Citizens' Climate Lobby's International Conference coming up this weekend!

Saturday June 12 from 11 AM to 3 PM
Sunday   June 13 Choice of 4 Seminars starting at 11 am

REGISTER: CCLUSA.org/June

Keynote: Jerry Taylor from the Niskanen Center and Jasmine Sanders from Our Climate will be the keynotes as we 'Push for a Price on Carbon' in Congress' upcoming climate legislation!

Strategy: Learn about the European Union's commitment to impose a carbon tax on imports from countries without a carbon tax (that's us!). This may be the key to unlock some of the most effective climate legislation in America- carbon pricing. Plus, find out who supports carbon pricing and how you can take action.

Get connected: We're using a new conference platform called Airmeet, where we can 'meet' each other in the 'Lounge', check out booths from our Action Teams and states, (like our MT/WY booth where we'll meet for a breakout), and send each other messages.

Arrive early to set up on Airmeet: Come on Friday night at 6pm or after 10 am on Saturday to set up your profile, schedule, and take a little tour of the new Airmeet platform. Then start looking at booths and talk to people from around the country passionate about climate solutions.

** If you have problems with Airmeet, click on the question mark in the bottom right corner! They suggest you use a desk or laptop and the latest version of Chrome browser. No phone in available.

Get inspired and learn how to influence Congress!

We hope to 'see' you this weekend!

Whitefish Unanimously Approves Energy Innovation Act  Resolution
A BIG THANKS goes to the City of Whitefish!  On May 17th the Whitefish City Council passed Resolution 21-14 (PDF) urging the U.S. government to pass the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act

It was a team effort by Flathead Valley chapter members.

  • Chapter co-leader, Robin Paone, worked closely with retired Whitefish City Council members
  • Laura Reynolds heads up our very active and successful LTE team which is keeping carbon pricing and The Energy Innovation Act in the press in our region
  • Maria Paula Angarita helped get us organized with social media along with providing guidance
  • Laurel Eastman, using her exceptional marketing skills, taught us how to leverage our print media successes on social media
  • Chapter co-leader, Angie Winter‍, contacted all chapter members living in Whitefish and encouraged them to write to the city in support
  • Chapter members have participated in grassroots outreach such as tabling and giving presentations

All this culminated in making the topic of climate change and discussion of Federal solutions more acceptable in our corner of Montana.

Interested in getting your town on board?  Contact your chapter leader to see how you can help.

THANK YOU to more New Endorsers!

  • Women's Kiteboarding Collective:  Connecting, Educating & Inspiring Women in Kiteboarding
  • Linda Kiltz with KZ Farm (Kalispell, MT):  Family farm featuring organic beef, eggs and apples
  • Mission Mountain Winery (Dayton, MT): Family-owned winery located on the west shore of Flathead Lake
Know a business or community leader that might endorse?  Contact your chapter leader for tips on making it happen!

Endorsements are presented to Congress during CCL lobby meetings and are an important tool for building political will for passage of The Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act.
