Financing for Solutions to Displacement in Ethiopia: ReDSS has finalized a series of country case studies on financing for solutions to displacement, and recently launched on a dedicated webpage here. The Ethiopia case study focusses on the thematic areas of self-reliance, social protection and education. Samara University-ReDSS Research Seminar: ReDSS, in collaboration with Samara University, held a research seminar titled “Research and evidence to inform CRRF programming and policy in Ethiopia- Meeting the needs of displacement-affected communities in Afar: The role of research”. The seminar was held on the 27th of May 2021 in Semera, the regional capital of Afar regional state, and was attended by 28 participants from federal and regional level government bureaus and agencies, academia, INGOs and UN agencies. Somali Regional State Forced Displacement Seminar: A seminar on forced displacement, as part of the World Refugee Week, was held on the 15th of June 2021 in Jigjiga, capital of the Somali regional state. The seminar was organized in collaboration with UNHCR Jigjiga sub-office and Jijgiga University. It was attended by 29 participants from federal and regional government bureaus and agencies, the academia, INGOs, and UN agencies. ReDSS Ethiopia Research Strategy (2021-2023): The Ethiopia research strategy is updated to cover the period from 2021-2023 and shared with members and partners. The strategy, which will guide the country unit’s research engagement for the period, also outlines the 2021 research priorities. The strategy is available here.
Launch Event, Ethiopia Justice Needs and Satisfaction Survey for Refugees and Host Communities, 18 May: ARRA and UNHCR, together with the Hague Institute for Innovation of Law (HiiL), hosted this event to share key findings of a Justice Needs and Satisfaction Survey conducted with refugees and host communities in Somali and Tigray Regions.
