Fearrington Farmers' Market
every Tuesday, rain or shine
current hours: 4:00-6:00 pm

The humid, stormy days of June are upon us -- keep your fingers crossed that it stays dry for market on Tuesday, but remember that we'll be here either way!  Your local farmers and food artisans are working hard to bring you the best of the season, rain or shine.  We've got plenty of early summer produce coming in right now, including tomatoes, potatoes, zucchini and yellow squash, onions, and more.  And if you're looking to grab a few more strawberries for the freezer, this might be your last chance, so come on out!

See you Tuesday,
Kristen

Perry-winkle Farm

Let's talk zucchini!  We have our favorite varieties to grow and customers have their favorites to eat, so hopefully they are the same.  We grow three different varieties: a dark green beauty, a golden yellow one, and a specialty variety called Magda from the Mediterranean region.  We wanted to re-introduce customers to this pale green squash with a creamy texture and a sweet and nutty flavor. Great for grilling, steaming, or eating raw.  We will have a basket of cabbage: savoy, smooth faced, red and "pointy heads," along with more fennel bulbs, bunches of spring scallions (green onions), and a cooler full of arugula.  We also continue to harvest kale and spring collard greens.

In the flower department we will have bunches of rudbeckia (black-eyed Susan), orange calendulas, and colorful statice.   The snapdragon season is waning, so we will have just a few bunches this week. There will be a rack full of mixed bouquets in two different sizes.

There will also be a good supply of eggs from Michael's pastured hens.
