UPDATE: JUNE 2021

Dear <<First Name (required)>>

As our summer term has just come to an end, we thought we would send a news update on the Scottish Cornhill Training Course.

It has been a surprisingly good year for us – I say surprising because the Covid pandemic has not been as disruptive as it might have been! We had to do our teaching on Zoom for parts of the year, and while this brought a certain level of frustration to teachers and students, we managed to get through our curriculum pretty much intact. We had a happy Valedictory Service on 16th June at which we were able to say goodbye to both the 22 students who have completed the course this year, and those who completed it twelve months ago but were not able to attend in person.

SERVANTS OF THE WORD

It was a joy to put on our Servants of the Word conference on June 14th and 15th, attended by nearly a hundred people. The fellowship of real in-person contact was enormously encouraging after the difficult months in which meetings have been almost impossible to run. We had some excellent teaching from David Jackman, Willie Philip and Paul Rees. If you weren't able to be with us for the conference you can catch up with the talks by following the link below to our website:

As we look forward to the upcoming academic year, the prospects look good. Over twenty men and woman have applied for the Cornhill Training Course, and we are especially encouraged by the progress being made with our Pastors’ Training Course: we have a larger entry coming in than ever before, and it is clear that the PTC is gaining wider recognition in Scotland. Being able to offer an MA degree in conjunction with Union College Belfast is clearly a factor that is encouraging more students to join us.

We are also greatly looking forward to having Jonathan Gemmell with us as a new staff member, who starts in August.  Please pray for Jon and Aileen and their young son as they prepare to move back to Scotland.  Jon will bring youth and fresh ideas to share with us, and I am certain that his presence will be very stimulating!

We rely on your prayers and appreciate your support very greatly.

Thank you!

With our very best wishes,

Edward Lobb
