Kandis Williams Eurydice at Night Gallery (Jun 26 - Aug 7) Williams revisits the Greek myth of Eurydice through a performance that explores the implications of a Black figure being seen. Also on view is JPW3’s Root-Bound.

 

Rosy Keyser ARP 273 at Parrasch Heijnen (Jun 26, 6-8 pm) Keyser’s poetic paintings describe nature while generating beauty and symbiotic flow. On view through August 7.

 

Robert Lazzarini Rated R for violence at Lowell Ryan Projects (Jun 26, 5-8 pm) Based upon the red Rated R title cards seen before movies, Lazzarini’s paintings reflect the consumption of violence back onto a complicit viewer. On view through August 14.

 

Allison C Smith presents stephanie mei huang (self-portraits) as neither donkey nor horse at Hauser & Wirth (Jun 26, 11 am-6 pm) huang’s recent works explore racial melancholia through a cowboy drag avatarism of the (Asian) American West.

PUSHING THROUGH by DOMINIQUE on Artsy (opens Jun 25) This online exhibition features the work of artists who are parents, uniting those who share resilience, resourcefulness, and creativity.

 

Cali Thornhill DeWitt Live Forever (2010 - 2020) at HVW8 (May 21 - Jun 27) DeWitt’s retrospective dives into the chaotic humanity and unhinged culture of the past decade.

 

Alexandra Barth Scenography at Chris Sharp Gallery (Jun 19 - Jul 31) The interiors in Barth’s moody still-life paintings hold a certain menace, similar to that of a dystopian crime scene.

 

 UFO907 NeighborHoodlems at Avenue des Arts (Jun 25, 6-8 pm) UFO’s spray-painted canvases are tributes to the soul and vitality of his hometown, New York City.

 

The Talking Stone at Moskowitz Bayse (Jun 26, 6-8 pm) This world-building exhibition explores the “outer edges” that exist beyond and between 15 artists’ works. On view through August 1.

Open Studio Hours with Hector O. Hernandez at Studio 203 (Jun 26, 2-5 pm) Drop by Studio 203 and chat with Hernandez about his latest exhibition, My America is Not Your America.

 

Intersect: Summer Print Salon at KP Projects (Jun 19 - Jul 9) Intersect features the work of foundational artists within the Low Brow, Pop Surrealism, and Street Art movements.
