COVID-19 Guidance and Information: Updates
The Guiding Framework to Support Youth Work Delivery has been updated (17th June) and can be found on the YouthLink Scotland Youth Work Recovery hub.

In line with Scottish Government Guidance for the CLD sector, the youth work guidance has been updated to remove the cap on numbers at levels 0-2. Following a risk assessment, a space-based approach should be taken in line with capacity guidance. Numbers permitted are to be based on the capacity of the venue, providing physical distancing and other mitigations remain in place.

In order to assess the capacity of your spaces please have a look at these useful Capacity Assessment Tools:

A reminder:
  • Two-metre distancing between adults and young people, and between young people (12 and over) should be always maintained.
  •  Face coverings should be worn by anyone aged 12 years of age and over, in all indoor spaces. Youth work leaders may wish to consider strengthening the use of face coverings to address specific local circumstances e.g. where increased community transmission is being seen
  • Please note the ‘expectations before delivery’, outlined in the youth work guidance should be in place when planning for the delivery of any youth work activity.

We would advise you to review your risk assessment in line with the updated guidance and share this with staff and volunteers.

For any specific questions regarding the guidance please contact Ayliffe at YouthBorders or visit the YouthLink Scotland FAQ.

Youth Work - Access to Facilities
Today, YouthLink Scotland have published the findings of their third sector survey exploring Access to Facilities. This is the third youth work sector survey exploring Access to Facilities. The responses suggest that youth workers are still struggling to access indoor spaces where they can deliver face-to-face youth work, and that access issues are as challenging now as they were in October 2020.
It is clear this is having a detrimental direct impact on young people who need the support of youth workers more than ever, and it’s having a concerning wider impact on youth work organisations.
Only 22% of youth work organisations and services across Scotland have full access to facilities. This is despite Scottish Government guidance enabling indoor face-to-face youth work to resume.

Then be part of #BordersGetIntoSummer by applying for a micro or small grant.
We want to fund not-for-profit groups who can provide exciting play, sport, cultural or social activities and experiences for children and young people this summer.

This will have a particular focus on children and young people who:
  • have had a lack of participation in normal activities during the pandemic
  • would benefit from socialising and reconnecting with friends, peers, trusted adults, the wider community and the outdoors.
  • live in remote / rural areas, where the range of existing provision could be more limited and geographic barriers to access services may be considerable.

Project activity must take place during July and August 2021 during the #BordersGetIntoSummer.

Micro Grants are available between £250 and £500.
Small Grants are available between £500 and £4000.
