Ceramics Exhibition Opens at ND Heritage Center & State Museum
BISMARCK, N.D. – “Ancient Earth: Ceramic Endeavors by Brad Bachmeier,” a free exhibition featuring the work of Fargo ceramic artist Brad Bachmeier, opens June 28 at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum in Bismarck. “Ancient Earth” includes 26 selections of Bachmeier’s ceramic artwork created over the past 12 years that demonstrate his philosophical approach of “honoring humankind’s ancient and universal partnership with clay.”
Bachmeier’s archaeological experiences and national park artist-in-residencies are reflected in these contemporary works highlighting humanity’s shared artistic behaviors and ceramic achievements. This exhibit brings to light his philosophy of a shared responsibility to help conserve endangered natural, cultural, and historical resources and assets.
Bachmeier is a professor of art education at Minnesota State University Moorhead. He has garnered state and national awards including the North Dakota Governor's Award in Arts Education and the national Niche Award in wheel-thrown ceramics. His works are held in regional and national collections.
View “Ancient Earth: Ceramic Endeavors by Brad Bachmeier” during regular State Museum hours, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and weekends from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For information about upcoming programs of the State Historical Society of North Dakota, go to history.nd.gov/events.
