In the Spotlight this month is Violet Adams.  She 14 years old and has been in 4-H for 5 years.  She is a member of the Majestic Monarchs 4-H Club.  She is holding her Rex Market Rabbit Jethro.  Violet has been in the Rabbit Project for 5 years and this year she added the Poultry Project.  She is also in the Veterinary Science project and Plant Science project in her club.

She is amazing working with the Cloverbuds in our club and does the most beautiful Record Books, says Kelly Sciarrotta, Majestic Monarchs 4-H Club leader.

Violet enjoys riding horses, playing with animals and writing stories.  She also enjoys playing the violin.

We look forward to seeing you at the Kitsap Fair this year, and seeing all the work you have put into your projects.

4-H In Person Activities Are Back!!!

On June 30, 2021, Governor Inslee reopened Washington under the Washington Ready plan. For those who are not vaccinated, we recommend that they continue to wear masks indoors. Also, we encourage everyone to wear masks for safety and to model the behavior for youth, who are still required to wear masks.

If an activity is conducted outdoors, there is no requirement to wear masks. However, people should continue to practice physical distancing of six feet, if possible.  There are no in-person number limitation to 4-H activities.

The Kitsap County Market Auction will be Saturday, August 28th at 11:00am next to the Swine Barn.  The ultimate worth of a livestock animal is determined by the price received at the market and the fair auction is the market for the 4-H members. All of the animals sold are high quality - each being raised with the utmost care and attention. The success of the auction is greatly determined by the number of bidders and the enthusiasm of those bidders so 4-H is always welcoming new bidders. Purchasing an animal through the fair is a win-win situation for both parties. The 4-H member is learning life and business skills and the purchaser is getting excellent cuts of meat.

Everyone will have the opportunity to bid on beef, lamb, swine, goat, rabbit, and chickens.  Bid with a neighbor or friend and split the animal and make it financially more feasible.  Get all the information about how auctions work by clicking Livestock Auction 101.  If you do not want to purchase an animal you can make an Add-On donation to Market Project youth by filling out a donation slip and giving it to the auctioneer helpers in the ring.

A raffle to fund scholarships will be held during the auction.  The winning ticket holder will receive their choice of half of a hog or $250 cash.    Tickets are $1 each and can be purchased from 4-H and FFA members or Auction Committee members.  Sweatshirts and T-shirts are also available for purchase to support the Auction Committee.
Submit t-shirt designs on the Kitsap County 4-H website!
