Its Pride Month

Today is the last day of Pride Month and there are still many reasons to celebrate!

On June 24, 2021, Governor Cuomo signed the Gender Recognition Act eliminating barriers to equality for transgender, non-binary and other New Yorkers.

LSHV’s LGBTQ Unit Staff Attorney discusses those changes in this edition of Know Your Rights.

LSHV’s LGBTQ Legal project is dedicated to representing the LGBTQ community and ensuring that the basic necessities of life are being met, and to advocating for clients who have been discriminated against because of their sexual orientation and/or gender identity.

Staff Spotlights

Francesca Corbacho - Staff Attorney

Francesca is a Staff Attorney In our Immigration Unit. She came to LSHV because she wanted to serve marginalized clients and was looking for a place where she could grow professionally and maintain a good quality of life.

She is an active participant in LSHV’s DEIB and technology efforts.

When not at work, Francesca and her partner are renovating a house themselves, and learning how to care for their chickens, goose, and the basics of sustainable gardening.

Christopher Oldi - Pro Bono Director

Christopher started as a Staff Attorney in the Yonkers office in 2014; and moved to the White Plains office in 2015 to spearhead the creation of the LGBTQ Legal Project. In 2018 he took on the role the Pro Bono Director, where he is so proud of the Pro Bono Housing Project and its success.

During the time Christopher was a LGTBQ Staff Attorney, he was able to secure a $75k settlement for an employment discrimination case.

Not only does Christopher have a degree in Italian (even though he is no longer fluent as he was while studying abroad), he has two Christopher Oldi days dedicated to him in Westchester County!
