Team MBYC News and Upcoming Events

SUMMER IS IN FULL SWING!

We are into Week 3 of the Summer Program and with most classes now full, things are moving full speed ahead with more MBYC sailors, boats and equipment on the water than ever before!

New families are discovering the joys of sailing and the amazing second home that Mission Bay Yacht Club is for so many of us and our Race Team continues to grow as newer sailors graduate into the racing fleets!

THURSDAY NIGHT THING!!

Every Thursday through Summer!
First start at 6pm.

Juniors can reserve CFJs, Lasers or O'Pen Skiffs.
Sign-up on the whiteboard outside the Jr Office before 4:15pm on the day of racing each week.
Include sailors name(s), fleet, boat number and/or sail number.
Note: If gear isn't properly put away by any sailor or team, club boat privileges will be suspended for the following week.

NHYC Summer Gold Cup

MBYC brought 20 sailors to the NHYC Summer Gold Cup this past weekend. For several of our newer racers, this was the first time they sailed outside of the San Diego area, and for the whole team, this was the closest to a "normal" event we've been to in a very long time!

From racing to bodysurfing to the pool party at the hotel, this is what our sailors have been looking forward to doing together again. On and off the water, our sailors made us proud each and every day.

Team MBYC Gold Cup trophy winners and other team highlights:

A Fleet (23 boats) - Shane 4th
B Fleet (18 boats) - Colin 5th
C1 Fleet (30 boats) - Cody 1st
C2 Fleet (41 boats!) - Loki 2nd and Braden 5th
C3 Fleet (24 boats) - Jett and Parker, both finishing top 10!
Cody and Loki both earning fleet promotion! Cody to B and Loki to C1!
6 of our 9 C2s got a bullet!
Loki was highlighted at the trophy ceremony for his sportsmanlike behavior. Way to represent MBYC!!
