The awful war ended and there remained about 10,000 seriously injured men. It was time to start the second part of the Smiley Pack project and stand near the brave soldiers who fought for our motherland.
About the project.
This project was aimed to help families where the men were seriously injured. The priority was given to those families that were registered in state benefit system and were under the line of poverty.
So five families and a single soldier were selected as beneficiaries of the program.
As Mer Hooys focus is mainly on Women Empowerment, wives of injured soldiers were chosen to pass professional training courses- hairdressing and manicure.
After completing the courses, each beneficiary was given a full package of necessary professional utensils.
Parallel to this, the families received social-psychological support and advocacy. During the 1 month length training course every family got full food packages and household goods twice.
Pay it forward! One of the beneficiaries- Lilit, paid it forward and visited our center. They lost their home in Hadrut and her husband who was contract soldier got serious scalp injury. The day before the graduation of our 4 girls, Lilit got girls' nails done and styled their hair.
She expressed her endless gratitude to the program as thanks to it, their family overcame the difficulties. Lilit’s husband Samvel who passed 2 scalp operations also decided to learn hairdressing and they represented a plan to state for support to open their beauty salon for men and women.
By the way, all the beneficiaries of the program are now working and are able to keep their families. They have passed all the difficulties and have great vision for their future.
