Friday, June 25-Sunday, June 27 Concord Garden Tour - Via Zoom - Presented by the Concord Museum - Six virtual tours plus admission to the museum and live demos. Tickets are $35. Link here for details and registration.
 
Monday, June 28 Lessons Learned: What the HIV/AIDS Crisis Can Teach Us About the Coronavirus Pandemic - 6:00-7:30pm via Zoom - Presented by AARP - A panel of public health and policy advocates will discuss the parallels and differences in the response to the HIV/AIDS crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic. Tuesday, June 29 Thinking Beyond the Money - 2:00pm via Zoom - Presented by AARP - This seminar offers a framework that connects non-financial decisions with the life planning process. Supported by tools and resources, attendees will begin to think ahead about retirement in a creative and comprehensive way. The seminar presents a new definition of “retirement” and a practical model for planning one’s future by identifying six key priorities in a retirement planning pyramid: seeking purpose, keeping fit, staying connected, finding home, finding security, and finding balance. Wednesday, July 7 Gullah Geechee: African Communities on the Barrier Islands of the American South - 1:00pm via Zoom - World traveler and photojournalist Barry Pell returns virtually to discuss the Gullah Geechee - descendants of people from Sierra Leone and other neighboring countries of the West African rice coast In this program, accompanied by his photography, he will discuss how they have preserved their African roots, heritage, and culture, while resisting pressures by developers for their valuable and pristine lands. Wednesday, July 7 Debt Management & Retirement: Planning for & Living in Retirement - 6:00-7:30pm via Zoom - Presented by AARP - AARP's Martin Booker, Program Manager for Financial Resilience Programming, for a financial basics workshop on managing your debt as you prepare for retirement or have retired. Monday, July 12 Podiatry Clinic - By appointment 41 North Rd., Suite 202, Bedford - The Podiatry Clinic fee is $40; Carlisle seniors will continue to pay $25 because of the generosity of the Friends of the Carlisle Council on Aging. Please note if you pay by check, it should now be made payable to “Dr. Gregorian.” For an appointment, call the COA 978-371-2895 and let us know if you need a ride.
 
Monday, July 12 Community Book Club - 10:30am via Zoom - Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer - No commitment required.  You don’t have to have read the book to attend meetings, but you may come out of the discussion wanting to read it.  Sponsored jointly by the COA and the Gleason Public Library. Tuesday, July 13 Mitchell Caverns in the Mojave Desert - 1:00pm via Zoom - The Mitchell Caverns is a trio of limestone caves located on the east side of the Providence Mountains in San Bernardino County, California. For many years the caves were thought to be "dead," that is, the formations were no longer growing. However, recent studies have found some signs of life. Numerous paleontological and archaeological finds have been made in and around the caverns. The caverns were a sacred place for the Chemehuevi Indians, and a number of tools and fire pits have been found. Our cave guide, California State Park Interpreter Andrew Fitzpatrick, will take us through a crash course in desert and cave ecology and local history of the Mitchell Caverns. Wednesday, July 21 Intergenerational Origami - 11:00am via Zoom (second session 11:000am Wednesday, August 18) - A presentation of Horizon Network Boston - From making swans, to pianos, to a heart, they will teach it all! Join in on one or both origami lesson. Register with the COA 978-371-2895, then stop by the COA Office at Carlisle Town Hall to pick up your set of origami paper.
 
Thursday, July 22 COA Summer Lunch - Times TBD; Drive-Thru at Fire Station & Dining at St. Irene - Celebrate summer with a BBQ lunch, featuring a barbecued chicken breast, corn on the cob, and a baked potato—compliments of the COA. Either drive-thru & pick up or dine-in at St. Irene. The New New Orleans Jazz Band will liven up the scene with their swinging, stomping, syncopated beat that will make you want to dance! For Carlisle 60+ residents. Call 978-371-2895 by Thursday, July 15 to register and let us know if you plan to dine-in or drive-thru.
