Free Learning Series “Little Kids, Big World” Featured at North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum


BISMARCK, N.D. – Toddlers and preschoolers are invited to the free interactive learning series “Little Kids, Big World” at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum. These interactive 30-minute programs introduce children to North Dakota’s fascinating history. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

"Little Kids, Big World" classes are offered in a large public space with social distancing considerations. Each child is provided with their own supplies. The programs are Saturdays and Sundays at 11 a.m. and 12 p.m., unless noted otherwise. Children and their parents or guardians are asked to meet at the east entrance information desk.

July 3 "Happy Independence Day!" View pieces of history as we celebrate our country’s birthday.

July 10 "All About the Bison." 2:30 and 3 p.m. Join a fun scavenger hunt to discover how bison provided food, clothing, shelter, and more for American Indian people.

July 17 "Dynamic Dinos." Hunt for dinosaur footprints in the State Museum. Learn about their size and the dinosaurs who left them.

July 18 "Drop-in Dino Dig." Stop by any time between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Become a paleontologist and dig for dinosaur bones.

July 24 "What Do You Wear?" 2:30 and 3 p.m. Did you know the State Museum has a lot of clothing to see? Take part in our scavenger hunt to discover what North Dakotans have worn through the years.

Aug. 1 "Pioneer Games." Learn how children from long ago had fun by playing games from pioneer times.

Follow us on Facebook for upcoming dates and topics. "Little Kids, Big World" is led by Sarah Fox, who has teaching endorsements in STEM 1-8, middle school 5-8, and kindergarten, and has taught for more than 10 years.
