Planning begins for RIAL Bilateral Cooperation Virtual Activities

With meetings among the Ministries of Labor of Trinidad and Tobago, Canada, Chile, Guatemala, Panama and Peru, the planning of RIAL bilateral cooperation activities began last week.  These activities were selected within the 14th Call for proposals and will take place virtually throughout the rest of the year. The Ministries met with their respective cooperation partners, the Technical Secretariat and, in the case of the cooperations on child labor, the ILO, in order to set dates, define contents and share expectations and opportunities. It is always enriching to see the spirit of cooperation of the RIAL/OAS materialized in the willingness of the Ministries to provide assistance and share experiences with their peers in the region. Success in the cooperation!

The publication reveals that the regional GDP contracted by -7.1%, the highest contraction in the century. Accordingly, the greatest impact on the economy was in the second quarter of 2020, when quarantine measures were set in place which resulted in a significant decline in employment activities.
