CELEBRATION ON JULY 4TH,
GRAND REOPENING IN OUR WORSHIP CENTER

We are looking forward to the reopening of our in-person worship in our church facility on July 4th.  It has been one year since our worship began outside on the land, and now we are celebrating being back in our worship center.  The church council will meet on June 21st to finalize the details for our reopening.  We will ensure that you receive the information in our next newsletter prior to the July 4th date.  This will certainly be a day to come together and celebrate.   It has been a year of working together to provide worship and ministry in these difficult times.  We look forward to sharing our favorite July 4th hymns and praise music.  We will also celebrate communion.  Plan to join us for this great day.
We will continue our online presence with live stream worship every Sunday.  If you are not able to be with us in person, plan to join us in the live stream.  As you are aware we received a technology grant to upgrade our facility for a strong online presence and provide the best in-person worship experience at Spirit of Joy.  We would like to match the $5000 grant.  Please give in support of this effort for technology

Blessings to you all,
Pastor Dan

Worship Center Re-Opening on July 4th

Beginning on July 4th our safety protocols at Spirit of Joy will adjust with our indoor worship.  We rejoice that the vaccine has proven effective and is taking hold in our communities.  There is still a way to go, especially since a vaccine for young children will not be available for a few months.  There are also some adults who have not been vaccinated... some for very good reason.  The church council has been diligent in the matter of caring for our faith community.
The basic shift of our protocols is a movement from "requirement” to "personal choice". Things like mask wearing, social distancing, etc....the choice now becomes yours.  You are encouraged to do what is best and most comfortable for you.
     1) Wearing your mask as of July 4th is no longer a requirement if you are vaccinated.  Please feel free to wear one if that makes you feel more comfortable.  The CDC guidelines ask that you wear a mask for your protection if you are not vaccinated or if you happen to have a slight cold.
     2) Social distancing of six feet, as of July 4th, will no longer be in effect.  Nonetheless, when you arrive at the church, seating can be well-spaced.
     3) Serving coffee after worship will resume for the month of July.  We will move to adding snacks in August.
     4) As for greeting one another, you are urged to be respectful of another's personal space.  If you are a hugger, it is a good idea to ask: "May I give you a hug?"  Some may still be at the elbow or fist bump stage of greeting; others are no longer comfortable shaking hands.  The important thing is for us to respect one another and to be assertive in indicating with what we are most comfortable.

Please note.... the "easing of our protocols" are subject to change based on the feedback we receive and in the case of an increase in the rate of infections.  You have all been awesome over this past year.  Now as we adjust we will continue to invest in the well-being of one another, our faith community, and the larger community as well.
As the school year has ended and summer is here I am looking forward to connecting with the youth here at Spirit of Joy in a variety of different ways. Unfortunately, the summer trip that the youth have gone on in the past won't be happening this year, but there are still many things that can be done over the course of the summer that allow us to gather together in faith and have some fun.

The last weekly youth group was June 20th and it is now time to switch gears. This will resume again towards the end of August.

Here are a few dates/activities to keep in mind for summer as I continue to work on setting up different events. The details are still getting sorted but information on dates, times, need for parent volunteers, and sign up forms can be found here in future newsletters, on our website at http://sojchurch.com/youth, and on our Facebook pages at https://www.facebook.com/sojyouth, and https://www.facebook.com/groups/sojchurch

This summer we can look forward to a few different activities such as: Worship Night (July, 18th), 1-2 Service Days around our community here in Ramona (Sometime in August), and a Beach day (July 25th).

The dates listed are tentative as I work on ironing out some details. I am looking forward to connecting with the youth more over the summer and into the fall.

Thank You,

Thank You!!

The Saturday work day, for preparing our worship center, went as planned and much was accomplished including washing all windows and cleaning all the "nooks and crannies".  Thanks to those who participated and we will be having other events as we get closer to our re-opening on July 4th.

Men's Weekly Breakfast continues every Thursday, 8am, at Denny's in Ramona.

We have no specific agenda except to get to know other Christian men in an informal gathering.

We hope you can join us.

PRAYER LINE REQUESTS: Tori Barlow is our new prayer line coordinator.  If you have a prayer request please contact Tori at toribarlow@gmail.com or (760) 522-0661.  All prayer requests will now be forwarded through Tori.
We are grateful for all ministries at Spirit of Joy meeting in the back room of our church facility.  Each of our groups can meet currently with a maximum of 8 persons.  Everyone is asked to wear a mask.  Cleaning is requested after each group meets.  We are moving closer to opening up our facility to more opportunities.  Thank you for your dedication to the protocols that have been in place for Spirit of Joy gatherings.
Check out ways you can support Spirit of Joy's ministry!
Safety Procedure for Worship
We encourage your arrival between 8-8:45am for set up.  Everyone is encouraged to wear masks on entry and departure on the church property.  Bring your own chairs, pop-ups, umbrellas, and bottled water.  To insure your safety, we will have a table with prepackaged communion (1st and 3rd Sunday each month) and bulletins (also a digital bulletin is available on your electronic devices).  Please practice social distancing of at least 6ft of separation per family unit.  Trash cans are available to dispose of all trash upon leaving.  If for any reason you are not feeling well, at higher risk, or uncomfortable with attending, we invite you to enjoy the service live-streamed.  If you prefer staying in your car, there will be a designated area for you to do so.
