UNCTAD: Getting lifechanging technologies to the poor

A new partnership between the Institute for Transformative Technologies, TATA Power and the Rockefeller Foundation will allow thousands of entrepreneurs and business owners in rural India to access affordable and reliable electric power.

New ITU standards to boost Fibre to the Home from 10G to 50G

The next generation of “PON” technologies, first standardized by ITU in 2018, will provide for speeds of 50 Gbit/s per wavelength, up from the 10 Gbit/s of its predecessor. ITU’s pioneering technology is currently used by over 600 million users worldwide, and they are targeting completion before the end of the year.

CERN study paves the way for novel electron-based cancer therapy

A study conducted at CERN’s CLEAR test facility demonstrates how high-energy electron beams can be focused onto deep-seated cancerous tumors. This new irradiation technique is the direct outcome of advances in the linear acceleration technology established by CERN researchers. The results will widen the field of possibilities for cancer treatment.
