Dear Readers,

As the summer holidays are approaching and we are enjoying the easement up of corona-measures, I am happy to update you about my documentary ‘Notes from Brussels’. It is incredible but true: after four years the film (79 minutes) is now completed. Here above you find the film-poster, designed by Susanne Keilhack from Buro Fritz in which she managed to combine three film-stills. I love the result.  Crowdfunding supporters will soon receive an email with the printable PDF -version of this poster, as well as more news on the remaining rewards.

Avant-Première Notes from Brussels June 9th 2021

On the first day the Belgian Cinema’s re-opened we celebrated my film’s completion in Cinema Galeries in Brussels. This avant-première was a private screening for cast, crew and partners. It was very special to finally present the film to this inner circle whose support has been crucial to me and without whom ‘Notes from Brussels’ could not have been made. The screening was followed by a discussion moderated by Daria Nashat where main characters Anne-Cécile Gault, Joanna Sopinska and Beate Gminder shared their experience of being part of this film-project. I was so proud of these inspiring women!

Here are some pictures of the event (made by photographer Karijn Kakebeeke) that was sponsored by the Permanent Representation of the Netherlands to the EU.

Festival- and release strategy

I am currently talking to film-distributors, sales-agents and audience-design experts to determine an appropriate festival- and release strategy. I have also started submitting the documentary to the first film festivals that take place this autumn. The film’s release to the wider public will probably not be before the Spring of 2022.

Impact program & private screenings
What already is clear to me is that I want the film to be part of an impact-program where screenings are a starting point for discussions about Europe and the future of work from a female perspective. As part of their donation some of my bigger donors and donor-organizations already booked a private screening that will kick start this impact program. Their insights and advice is very valuable to me and together we will further explore the films themes and how these can trigger such reflections.

If your organization is interested to host a private screening, you can contact me at info@incontextproducties.nl. As soon as available, I will then provide you with information about the possibilities.

Moving to The Hague

I wish you all a re-invigorating summer. I will be moving back to the Netherlands with my family and am already feeling nostalgic about the great years we spend in Brussels. My film will give me an excuse to regularly return to the European capital.

Kind regards,

Nadine van Loon
