Welcome to our special SEND Newsletter!

In this newsletter we will be outlining the next steps forward to develop our new SEND Strategy:

• Creating a plan together (Education Services, Health Services and Social Care Services, children, young people, parents and carers)
• Whilst the strategy is being developed, continue to deliver against our priorities alongside improved services and recovery from COVID-19
• To use the next 2 years to develop longer-term transformation of services

Starting the conversation (Next Steps)

• Agreeing the draft strategy, informed by views from parents and carers, quality assurance findings, performance and our self-evaluation
• Newsletter out to all Haringey SEND families who subscribe (June 2021) and on Local Offer
• Virtual drop-ins to be held with families during June and July
• Public consultation of SEND Strategic Plan - September 2021
• Final publication of strategy on Local Offer

Work Already Undertaken

• AMAZE report created and updated with a clear action plan
• Lessons learned from complaints, FOI, Members enquires and Ombudsman
• Reviving the Local Offer website

Priorities

1. We will support children at the earliest opportunity to access the intervention they need to achieve and thrive.
2. Wherever possible we will meet the needs of Haringey's children in Haringey.
3. We will deliver a Local Offer to children and families that allows them choice and access to services that meet their needs.
4. We will actively seek opportunities to work with our children, young people and families in a model of co-production.
5. We will prepare our children for their adult lives and support their transition.

Strategic Plan to be created following the consultation exercise

The strategic plan will include outcome measures of impact to be included with scorecards for monitoring. Detailed plans to sit underneath each of the 5 identified priorities so that all parties are clear about actions and responsibilities.

Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme 2021

Haringey is delivering the Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) programme which is being funded by the Department of Education (DoE).

The programme will cover 4 weeks in Summer 2021 (4 hours a day for 4 days a week).

The programme is aimed at children and young people in school from Reception to Year 11 who are in receipt of benefits-related free school meals.

The HAF Programme will complement our existing community holiday programme which offers online workshops, courses and fun sessions to all.
