Happy 80th Birthday PCYC!
We got the best present ever – a brand-new look!
Today is a special day as we celebrate our 80th Birthday! That’s 80 years of providing life-changing programs and services to some of the most vulnerable children and young people in our community.
Did you know?
  • The first PCYC was established in East Perth in 1941 in an old Biscuit Factory!
  • Collie was the first regional Centre to open in 1942
  • PCYC was originally called the ‘Police Boys Club’ with girls officially being welcomed in 1959
  • As early as 1953 PCYC children were competing in international sporting events with children and young people travelling to Singapore to compete in a Boxing competition
  • Our first Blue LightTM Unit was established in Albany in 1984
  • Our first accredited training courses were introduced in 1994
  • In 2015 our core diversionary program safeSPACETM was established
  • In 2019 we hit 350,000 attendances across WA
Geraldton opening, 1969
Air rifles,
1979
Gosnells boxer, 1986
Broome opening, 1991
As we planned to celebrate our 80 years, it was also time to think about how well we connect with young people in 2021.

As a youth organisation, it’s vital that we stay current and appealing to young people. Making sure that PCYC is modern, relevant, and a fun place to be. Both through the programs and activities we offer and the way we look and feel.

So, after ten years of our much-loved logo, research from the general public and young people told us it was time for a change. Inspired by sporting brands, the new logo has been created and will now be used across all of our Centres as our official identity.
Sport and recreational activities have been central to PCYC since its inception. The new logo gives a sporting feel, reflecting our active culture.

It has also been designed to give more prominence to our name and make our connection with the Police clear through the use of the chevrons and colour blue.

When we tested our logo with current PCYC participants, 86% of children preferred the new logo to the existing one – so we can be confident we’re hitting the mark with young people.
Along with the organisational logo, Blue LightTM has also been refreshed, as has our identity for our sub-brands, activities and programs.
But that’s not all!

Today we also launched our new website. The new website will make accessing our recreational activities, Institute of Training courses, programs and activities so much easier. It will also be more user-friendly for donors and those seeking to learn more about us.

We hope you’ll all be proud to wear and work with our new brand.

Soon, you’ll see new signs going up at all of our Centres, and you’ll receive information on ordering new uniform.

So, join us in wishing a big happy birthday to PCYC and watch out for more celebrations over the next few days and weeks.

We’ve all played an important part in making PCYC what it is today and will continue to play a vital role in the lives of vulnerable children and young people for many years to come.
