Covid-19 Update: Revised Safety Guidelines
Per guidance by theCenters for Disease Control (CDC) and in accordance with the updated Executive Order released by Governor Pritzkeron May 17, 2021, individuals who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are no longer required to wear a face-covering in the Elk Grove Village Public Library or while participating in programs.
The Library will be closed on Sunday, July 4, and Monday, July 5 in observanceof the Fourth of July. Have a safe holiday!
Mid-Summer Classics Concert Series
The Library will be closing at 5 pm due to the Village concerts on the following Tuesdays: July 13, 20 & 27.
Play, Picnic & Party with us on July 18!
Sunday, July 18 from Noon - 4 pm
Come play, picnic, and party with “Aloha Chicago Entertainment” a musical tribute to the Islands of Hawaii. Enjoy shaved ice from the Kona Ice truck at family-friendly prices. Visit the Friends of the Library’s DVD sale. Play Bingo in the Lee Maternowski Room and stop by the marketing table for your chance to win a Hawaiian gift basket or a 3D printer. We will also have adult and youth craft tables. Hope to see you there!

Adult Summer Reading Program Kick-Off
June 13 - September 12
Join the Adult Reading Program to enjoy great books and get the chance to win a prize!
Visit our booth at the Elk Grove Farmers Market, located in the parking lot between the Library and the Village Hall. We'll have fresh ideas and fun activities for adults and kids alike!
Join Gary Wenstrup as he takes you along on a journey with The Beach Boys“ through their sunniest” years, which includes interviews and performance video clips. See the Beach Boys live, on July 27, at the Mid-Summer Classics Concert Series.
Design a simple 3-inch x 5-inch "vanity plate" with a custom message of your choice; then, make an appointment to stop by and make it using our laser cutter.
Youth Summer Reading Program Reading Colors Your World
Let reading color your world this summer! Log the minutes you read to earn badges and rewards.
How it works:
1) Read for 500 minutes to officially finish the program. Earn five prizes and two tickets for the Final Prize Drawing.
2) Optional: Finish fun and engaging activities. Two extra tickets can be earned.
3) Designate your tickets for the prize you would like to win:
Barnes & Noble gift card
Classic Cinemas movie ticket
Crayon finger puppets
Iridescent drawstring bag
Tie-dye kit
Prizes:
Window decal – 200 minutes
T-shirt – 300 minutes

Page Turner Animal Adventures
There's still time to jump into the Once Upon a Time Machine in search of stories and adventure with Storyologists, Page Turner and Kenny. Participate in awesome shows, create fun crafts, make delicious recipes, and meet some amazing guests. Backtrack through our calendar to view all eight weeks of this virtual program.
Take a kit home and use it as inspiration for your playtime! From dance party kits to bubble art, each week brings something new! Kits will be available at the Youth Desk while supplies last.
Mini Mad Science Storytime Recommended for Ages 2-6 with Caregiver
Listen to a STEM concept story, and participate in activities that go along with the theme. Hands-on suggestions for science-based activities are also included. Registration required (over Zoom link).
At Home Storytime Recommended for Ages 0-5 with Caregiver
Connect with the library from your home to hear stories, make music, and get your brain working in an interactive storytime for little ones and their grown-ups. Registration required (over Zoom link)
Nature Explorers Recommended for Age 2-7 with parent/caregiver
Tie-dye outside at the library! You will need to bring your own pre-washed, plain white, 100% cotton shirt. Certain Thursdays in July. Register only once this summer.
Fun Factory Saturday – Take & Make All Ages through 8th Grade
Stop by the Library to pick up a Take & Make craft to kick off the coming week's Page Turner Animal Adventures theme. Craft kits will be available near the Youth Services
Reference Desk, while supplies last. July 31 Fun Factory Saturday will be in the Library (see below).
Join us in the Elk Grove Village Public Library parking lot for a socially distanced, in-person event! Registration is required and limited to EGVPL cardholders.
Make your grandma or special grand lady in your life look even more "gorgeous" on her special day with our "glamour" kit! Registration is required and limited to EGVPL cardholders.
Drop by the library to make a simple craft on your own or with the help of a parent/caregiver. The craft will be available in Youth Services, while supplies last.
Follow along, step by step, as we create fun coloring book pages over Zoom! Have crayons, markers, or colored pencils nearby to color them any way you want. Registration required.
Ready Set Go to Kindergarten Children entering Kindergarten with parent/caregiver
Going to Kindergarten in 2021? Join the fun and get ready for your first big day! Registration is required and limited to EGVPL cardholders.
Middle School/Junior High
Junior Teen Advisory Group (TAG) Calling students in grades 6, 7, and 8! Join the year-round Junior Teen Advisory Group (Jr. TAG). Earn service hours and meet new students.
Meet in person outside the Library to discuss books, movies, & everything else! If it rains, we'll meet inside or on Zoom. Copies of "Be Prepared" will be available at the Youth Services Desk.
