Arboretum Explorer: Can't-miss updates from your Arboretum
July 2021

Join us in celebration!

For 35 years, The North Carolina Arboretum has served as destination and refuge for visitors, residents, adults and children in so many ways. On the occasion of our 35th birthday, Executive Director George Briggs — who has watched the Arboretum change and flourish since coming on board in 1987 — shares a message from your Arboretum:  "There is clearly so much to celebrate, and we hope you join us in relishing the occasion."

Read the his full message on Sprout: the Arboretum's blog, and look for more about our 35th  anniversary over the coming year.

Thank you!

Thank you! Your incredible generosity has helped us both meet our matching challenge AND exceed our goal. More than 440 donors have contributed over $130,000 towards The Path Forward as of July 1. Your support will help us continue the important work of connecting people and plants, while enhancing our gardens, trails and education programs. Look for news about The Path Forward projects that you’ve made possible in the coming weeks and months.

As we continue to look toward the future, we know it’s bright here at the Arboretum because of you. You’re helping bring the Arboretum to everyone. Thank you again!

Permission to Explore

Summer opens up the possibility for discovery, and July invites us to let ourselves loose to explore. Witnessing the the delight of children at the Arboretum’s Discovery Camps, we are reminded that wonder has no age limit. Come learn with Adult Education programs onsite, in the field or online and see the natural world open up to your gaze. As we crouch beside a sun-dappled stream or a moss-covered tree fallen in the forest, what new worlds are there for us to notice?

Our July lineup of classes includes Creative Nature Photography with Rick Daley, a three-day immersive exploration for photographers with all levels of experience and most kinds of equipment.
