Greetings from the President

June 24, 2021

Relief!

The Congregational Meeting for 2021 is complete and the 2021-2022 Budget is approved. Thank you for your participation, whether on Zoom or In-person... your votes of support are so important!

The Board of Trustees also met for the regular monthly meeting on June 16, 2021 and here are some of the highlights:

Selection of BoT Officers for Year 2021-2022:

President: Alan Worley

Vice President: Open

Treasurer: Bob Taylor

Secretary: Mary Darrow

At-Large 1:  Jeanine Little

At-Large 2:  Susan Seifried

At-Large 3: Open

NOTES: Same Board as last year with one additional member.

Reminder: There is still an opening on the Board of Trustees.
Our monthly meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month and are conducted on Zoom, so there is no hassle driving to our MVUUC campus to attend a meeting.
If you are interested in serving our Congregation as a Board Member or would like additional info, please contact the Congregational Engagement Committee
(Amy Randall, Megan Gallagher, or Maribel Dana).

Other Board Actions:

The Board voted to approve a new contract for Rev Maggie Yenoki!

Motion 2021-06-18-001: Approve contract for Minister Services for Rev Maggie Yenoki for the term July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022 with the understanding that the contract may be amended after a vote by the Congregation, upon completion of the Contract-to-Call process.

All Ayes, Passed.

Motion 2021-06-18-0006: Allow 2 MVUUC members in good standing to register as a UUA General Assembly delegate for the 2021 UUA General Assembly.

All ayes, Passed.

Julie Steinbach and Laura Mulroy are serving our Delegates at this year’s Online General Assembly.

Moving Forward:

There are several exciting and important activities for the 2021-2022 year:

1. The update to the MVUUC By-Laws (aka our Constitution) is on schedule to be completed and ready for Congregational approval in the October 2021 timeframe.  Contact Laura Mulroy, Catherine Rowlee, Deborah Scurto, or Maria Wortham if you have input for this important activity.

2. Spirit Level Grant for Technology:  We have the opportunity to receive up to $12,500 in matching funds to upgrade our technology to allow the activities of MVUUC to be accessible to the community beyond our walls. We will be asking you to help us raise the funds necessary to do this important work.

3. Engaging and Completing the Contract-to-Call process by October of this year.

With gratitude and thanks to each of you for your support of our Beloved Community,

Alan Worley, President

We celebrate our
Hybrid Sunday Service

We invite all who are fully vaccinated and masked
to come in-person for the 'soft re-opening'
of the MVUUC Sanctuary for Sunday Services
and extend our warm-hearted welcome
to all who choose to attend via Zoom

Our RE youth will be meeting on Campus
and welcoming some of their participants via Zoom.
Youth too young to be vaccinated
will be entering and exiting through the gate.
The Youth and Teachers will remain masked
& be distanced from those of us in the sanctuary.
Warm waves and shouts of "Hello!" are welcomed!

What is a “soft" re-opening? We can attend the Sunday Service in person, while embracing change slowly. We are requesting that all in-person attendees will have received their full dose of Covid-19 vaccination and the recommended 2-week wait period has passed. Wearing a mask is required and Social Distancing will be necessary inside our building. You might wish to bring a sweater as air flow within the sanctuary will be increased by the opening of all exterior doors and the continuous operation of our ceiling fans.

There are many aspects of this 'soft opening' that will rely on our patience and kind acquiescence to help us through to a safe and healthy way forward. Each of us has unique levels of comfort and anxiety about emerging from this time of crisis and difficulty. Our individual preferences may shift several times within each day.

Let's respect one another's level of willingness to re-enter our shared spaces by using a traffic light signal as a metaphor for our comfort level:

Are you a Red LIght? - Stop - No contact please. Let's keep 6' apart.
Are you a Yellow Light? - Caution - Let's bump elbows, or bow in respect - no hugs please.
Are you a Green Light? - Go - I'm okay with a handshake or a hug (ask first please!)

Please hear and honor the concerns of others in our community.
Here are some of the ways we will do that:

* Keep your mask on indoors.
* Maintain social distance between yourself and those outside your household.
* Leave space between the seat you choose and where others are seated.

We will be serving coffee and tea at this early stage of our reopening. You are invited to bring your own coffee mug and snacks, but please remember that there is no sharing of food at this time.

Remember that a recorded version of the service will be available on our YouTube page soon after processing.
