Get Clued Into Reading - Adult Summer Reading
Be a library gumshoe this summer and get clued into adult summer reading with NWPL. Pick up your game board at the library any time after June 28, and use it to craft your own summer reading story any way you like. You can mix and match library genres and formats with community locations to personalize the ways you use the library this summer. Plus join other library members at great online events where you can win prizes, meet authors, and talk about your favourite books.

Book Chats
Join us on Zoom to tell others about great books you've been reading! This is a chance to hear some great recommendations, and to share some of your favourite recent reads. Be prepared to talk for just a few minutes, and to give the info about the books you're recommending. 
July 6, 3-4 pm

Author Talk with Christina Myers
Join us for an evening in conversation with Christina Myers as she reads from her latest book The List of Last Chances. In this witty and heartwarming novel, Ruthie launches a last-ditch effort to pull herself up from rock bottom, only to discover that life and love don’t always go as planned. In this live session, participants will have a chance to ask questions also!

New West City Reads
Come and try out our drop in Zoom book club for the summer! We've chosen a great summer read, Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid, a funny and incisive look at modern urban life, transactional relationships, family, and race relations. 
July 22, 6:30-8 pm

NWPL Trivia Night
Test your trivia might against other library users at NWPL’s first ever Online Trivia Night!  Topics will include questions about New Westminster, NWPL, and Canadian popular culture. You might even win a prize (and bragging rights!).
July 29, 7-8 pm

Kids' Summer Reading Club - Crack the Case
Summer Reading Club for kids has started, but there's still plenty of time to join in! Pick up your reading logs at the library and read every day to earn your Summer Reading Club medal. Everyone who signs up also gets an entry into our Grand Prize Draws at the end of the summer! Visit nwpl.ca/src to learn more.
 
Every Wednesday in July at 10:30, join us in a different park around New West for outside Storytime:
Or Wednesday afternoons 12:30-3:30, come to the Queens Park Farm area for pop up library and museum activities. Keep an eye on our Events Calendar for more information on our fun summer programs! 
Teens' Summer Reading Club - Crack the Case
There's summer reading fun for teens too! Sign up at the library to get your reading log, and be eligible to win some fantastic prizes. Join us for some great programs including take and make sessions. All materials are available at the library to pick up, then Zoom in to create a craft together!

Register for a class
Our new season of artwork in our upstairs gallery continues with oil paintings by Kristy Shandal. Delicately coloured paintings of scenes from a year in home isolation, Kristy's exhibit is recognizable and evocative. Drop in to see the photos in the second floor gallery space anytime during the month of July.
For visually impaired patrons who would like to experience the exhibit, please enjoy the described works. Description can be accessed through the website or is available at the library. Email art@nwpl.ca for more information or additional accommodations.

Over the summer, NWPL will continue to reintroduce services that were placed on hold during the pandemic. following BC's provincial restart plan, our own plan will see most services return by early fall. For the most up-to-date information about available services visit www.nwpl.ca/covid.
