Hi All,

This is an all-day sprint regatta for 35y-and-over Masters athletes. The event needs volunteers and many of the personnel that usually run the regattas are racing on the day. So we need help!

We realise this is a weekday, many are working, or studying/exams. However, if you are able to help, PLEASE let us know by registering on the sheet below. We need to know who can help in advance, so please put your name down early. If you're unsure this far in advance, but may be available, please indicate.

Many roles can be developed with training prior to race day. THANKS from all the older sprint folk. Sprint Technical Committee

Mike Druce Bibbulum Track - Derek's Place

Last Thursday the AKC slalom community welcomed Mike Druce at the end of his 43 day hike.

While Mike was based in Sydney he had a direct influence on many of AKC's slalom paddlers, coaching them to success at both national and international events.

Mike Druce walked the entire Bibbulmun Track to raise funds for the charity ‘Derek’s Place’.

Derek’s Place is a charity that has been formed to raise money for a palliative care facility for families with young children, when one of the parents is at the end of life.

Natasha Welsh (who worked with Paddle Australia) founded the charity after their personal experience realising, existing facilities weren’t able to cater for families with young children.

Looking to buy a K4? Register your Interest Now!

AKC has purchased a Nelo Quattro K4 which is more comfortable and adaptable to paddlers of different sizes than our current Vadja models.

We have to move one of the Vadja's on before we bring the new one into the shed and would like to call for expressions of interest from members who would be interested in purchasing a K4 for their personal boat fleet.

If you are interested in purchasing a Vadja K4 please email Kylie akcadministration@gmail.com with your bid

Club Boat Maintenance

Forward Notice - Over the next few weeks we will be pulling some club boats out of service for some much needed maintenance.

Please be patient - if the boat you usually paddle is not there, it won't be long and it will be back.

Club boats are a shared responsibility. If you find something missing or broken and it's an easy fix, a few minutes of maintenance will make the next member who paddles that boat next - smile.

If you would like to learn some basic boat maintenance tips register your interest with Kylie akcadministration@gmail.com
