Intimate Classics Quartet Performance
|
|
The Octet, comprising string players from the Gold Coast Chamber Orchestra, will present “Intimate Classics”- a concert of beautiful music by several Romantic and more recent composers.
The centrepiece of the program is the Double Quartet by Louis Spohr. He was a prolific composer whose work spanned the transition from Classical to Romantic periods. There has been a renewed interest in his compositions since the late twentieth century.
Some of the other pieces in the program include the lyrical Nocturne from Alexander Borodin’s second string quartet, an arrangement for strings of Debussy’s languid Reverie and Astor Piazzolla’s tango, Oblivion.
