🍻 The quest for Pittsburgh's ultimate brewery

Plus, we’ve got another reason for you to eat your greens.

By Francesca Dabecco

Welcome to Tuesday, Pittsburgh.

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend, whether that was celebrating Juneteenth, Pride Month, spending time with your dad on Father’s Day, or all three. Now, for those of you who religiously read The Incline (thank you, avid supporters!), you may remember that I had a big announcement ‘brewing’ for today.

In honor of things beginning to reopen as more and more Pennsylvanians get vaccinated, we’re launching another bracket. This one is going to be all about finding the Ultimate Pittsburgh Brewery, and we need YOUR help.

I think we can all cheers to that! 🍻

We’re on the quest to find Pittsburgh’s Ultimate Brewery — and there’s no shortage of options.

So we need your help narrowing the field down to 32 contenders for this March Madness-style bracket.

Tell us: What’s your favorite Pittsburgh brewery?

Here’s how it works:

  • Nominate your favorite Pittsburgh brewery right here.
  • We’ll use that list, along with our own research to create “The Ultimate Pittsburgh Brewery bracket.”
  • Come back each week and vote for your favorite into the final round. Who advances in each round is strictly based on the number of votes for that round. So every vote in every round counts!

Also worth mentioning:

  • Breweries outside of Pittsburgh proper are welcome, but try to keep ‘em close to ‘tahn.
  • Base your nominations on the quality of the brewery — or on its level of PGH funkiness. Is it the most unique brewery our city has to offer? What makes it stand out from the crowd? Are they doing something super inventive, creative, or good for our community? We want to know!

🍕The Incline’s Ultimate Brewery Bracket is made possible by Caliente Pizza & Draft House, where you can always find delicious pies and local brews on tap.

Luckily for you, Caliente is offering The Incline readers a FREE small 1-topping pizza with any purchase over $10. You’ll redeem your offer when you provide your email in the nomination form.

Questions? Just hit reply or email us at hello@theincline.com.

Submit your nominations by 9 a.m. on Monday, June 28.

Need some inspiration? Discover the Burgh has a great list of breweries in and around 'tahn. You can also check out the Pittsburgh Brewers Guild website.

❓ Bracket FAQs

Here’s a quick primer on how our brackets work:

Who lands on a bracket? The original 32 slots are based on reader nominations and staff research. There’s a nomination period before each bracket to collect recommendations on who to include. There is no fee to participate, and you can’t buy a spot in the bracket.

Keep on votin’. Who advances in each round is strictly based on the number of votes for that round. We’ve had some tight match-ups in the past, so every vote counts! And yes, you can vote more than once in each round.

How can I sponsor a bracket? So you want a sponsor spot like Caliente’s Pizza and Drafthouse? Our sales team works with companies who want to sponsor brackets and related events. For more information, contact Benjamin Chaffee.

Tell your friends! Contenders are welcome to encourage their fans to vote for them. Past participants have posted flyers and created social media campaigns to rally their troops. If you post on social, use the hashtag #TheInclineBreweryBracket.

My favorite mixes so far have been the Crunchy Sesame, Spicy Southwest, and Caesar Shakeup. As a matter of fact, I’m about to put together a bowl now.

See yinz back here tomorrow.
