Today, let's focus on our firm foundation in Jesus.

Find a quiet space. Sit up tall, and close your eyes. Set a timer for one to two minutes per movement so that you can be fully present (or increase the time if you want a longer experience).

First, pay attention to God.

Take slow, deep breaths. This week, focus on where your feet connect to the floor
  • As you breathe in, think, "As I walk..."
  • As you breathe out, think, "... I'm rooted and grounded in Christ" (Colossians 2:6-7).

Second, ponder your inner world.

Process the following with Jesus:
  • Where does life feel unstable right now?
  • What am I experiencing as I think about that instability?
(Tell Jesus about what you're experiencing)

Third, prepare to love others.

Ask Jesus to help you answer the following:
  • How can I invite Jesus into this instability to ground me?
  • How can I bring a stable presence into other's lives this week?

A closing prayer:

Jesus, you are the most stable person ever to live. Your steadfastness in the face of adversity amazes me.

Holy Spirit, direct my heart toward the Father's love and the steadfastness of Christ. Move me beyond my self-pity and hatred of others into a space of calm, focused Jesus-following.

Ground me, grow my roots deep, and bring forth a harvest of righteousness in my life.

Amen.

Peace be with you until next week,
Rusty McKie
