Activities Planned at Welk Homestead State Historic Site
BISMARCK, N.D. – Activities planned for July at the Welk Homestead State Historic Site near Strasburg include a blacksmith demonstration, the Accordion Jam Fest, and a concert. All events are free and open to the public.
On July 2, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Bob McCay, an amateur blacksmith from Bismarck, will share his knowledge of the craft. A blacksmith for more than 10 years, he enjoys teaching and demonstrating these skills to the public.
The Accordion Jam Fest will take place on July 17 at 2 p.m. Registrants should bring their own music. Everyone will have the opportunity to play. At the end of the day, all participants will perform as a large group. Performers register by calling Brian Grove, 701.336.7777.
July 17 will also feature Matt Hodek & the Dakota Dutchmen performing at 5 p.m. The band travels the Midwest and Southwest performing at polka fests and other events featuring old-time music.
The Welk Homestead, located at 845 88th St. SE, Strasburg, is a state historic site managed by the State Historical Society of North Dakota.
