God Finishes What He Starts

Completed. Done. Finished. There’s a certain satisfaction that comes with completion. “The end of a thing is better than its beginning…” (Ecclesiastes 7:8). God enjoys finishing what He starts, too. But unlike us, He is always faithful to finish what He begins.

Since we know that God always finishes what He starts, we know that there is intentionality in everything He does. We aren’t some project drawn up with haphazard plans and then quickly abandoned when some more pressing task or exciting endeavor presents itself. That’s not how God works. As we look for God’s intention in everything that we go through, we can find agreement with His purpose.

Watch or listen to our study from Sunday as Pastor Allan Benson led our time considering how the Lord used His intentions in the life of David to bring His good work to completion.

Join us this Sunday! Our worship service starts at 10am. We meet in-person; online at live.refuge.mn; and on 96.1 FM (https://refuge.fm)

Read Ahead!

Our ministry is very simple ministry. Every Sunday morning, we go through the Bible chapter by chapter, and verse by verse. We pick up where we left off from the week before (Lord willing).

We work though the word this way so that you can study ahead. It gives you an opportunity to read and study the portion during the week that we’ll be going though on a Sunday. Then on Sundays, you’ll get that much more out of our time together.

We encourage everyone to have some sort of intentional effort to read through the entirety of the scriptures on your own (Three and One is a great way to do this). Read through the Bible. Talk to Jesus before (and after) you study. Look at what the text says, consider what it means, and find ways to apply what you’ve read to your life. Then ask God to help you walk it out by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Then join us on Sundays to study a small portion of the Scriptures.

God Finishes What He Starts

God always finishes what He starts. How does this truth comfort you today in the midst of your circumstances?

In his letter to the church in Philippi, the Apostle Paul wrote, “…He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ…” (Philippians 1:6). God starts His work in our hearts and continues to work in us by His Spirit until Christ is formed in our lives. This continual refining work won’t be complete until Jesus returns to bring us home.

On this side of eternity, that work is accomplished many times through the problems and tragedies we face. These difficulties expose our weaknesses, but also reveal to us God’s grace. For it’s in those times that we need to know and remember that His grace is sufficient and His strength is made perfect in our weakness.

As we encounter His grace in those difficult experiences, we are changed. Our exposure to His grace in our weaknesses shapes our character and personality without us even realizing it. Our Heavenly Father is continually using moments in our lives to prepare us for a decisive moment yet unknown to us that He can see coming. While we may see only the unanswered questions at the time, we can look back and see how God was working to complete the good work He began in us.

So take heart, dear friend! God isn’t finished with you yet—you are “His masterpiece, created anew in Christ Jesus,” (Ephesians 2:10) and He will continue His finishing touches until you are all that He intended you to be.
