The Library will be closed for floor renovation the week of July 12th. We plan to reopen on Monday, July 19th.

What does this mean for the week?
  • No returns – but don’t worry, we aren’t charging fines!
  • No checkouts.
  • No access to the building.
  • No phone coverage – staff will be monitoring our general email box if you need to reach us.
You may receive system notices about items being due or late while we are closed. Please disregard these notices, and remember we are not charging late fees.

Please plan accordingly and stock up!

Access to cloudLibrary, Kanopy, and Digital Maine Library are unaffected – this is a great time to explore these services. And don’t forget to look at our Summer Reading programs for kids and adults. FMI visit freeportlibrary.com

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Please note that Curbside Pickup is not for placing hold requests. You should have received notification that your items are ready for curbside pickup prior to coming to the library.

  • We will notify you when your items are ready – by email if we have it on file, or by phone if we do not.
  • Call us at 207-865-3307 when you arrive at the library.
  • We will place your items in a bag with your last name on it and will put it on a table in the pickup area in front of the main door.

The Friends of Freeport Community Library and the Freeport Conservation Trust generously donate several family museum and park passes each year to patrons of Freeport Community Library. All passes are good for either free or reduced admission.

It’s easy to reserve your pass. Simply pick a date and contact the library to see if the pass is available. When you stop by the library to pick up the pass make sure to bring your library card. Passes can only be issued to card holders in good standing. We are only able to issue one pass a day for each attraction so if your plans change, let us know so that the pass may be used by others. Please give us a call at 207-865-3307 to reserve a pass or for more information.
Attention Pownal and Durham Residents!

Did you know that courtesy of the Freeport Lioness-Lions Club, one-year nonresident library memberships have been donated to your town offices?

They are distributed on a first come, first served basis for anyone needing help paying the nonresident fee required to join FCL. One membership covers all who live in the household for one year.

Call your town office and inquire about the availability of one of these generously donated certificates.

We look forward to seeing you at Freeport Community Library!

2021 Summer Reading & Math Program

Kids have read 691 books so far and done 345 math problems!

The Summer Reading and Math Program (SRMP) continues until August 5 at 5:00PM so there's still plenty of time to read and get your raffle tickets in.

There are several ways to participate; as an Independent Reader, Teen Reader, Family Reader, and as a Bedtime Math player. (Love reading AND math? You can do both!) Track your reading and math, then fill out raffle tickets on our website to enter to win a variety of prizes, many donated from local Freeport businesses. The SRMP is open to kids grade 9 and under who are Freeport residents, students of Freeport schools, or Freeport Community Library card holders.
