So, Record Store Day Drop1 has come and gone and Drop2 is coming up on July 17. To keep things interesting, we have decided to host a YARD SALE this Saturday in between! OK, maybe the timing could have been better from an operational stand point; you know, planning and promoting yet another major event this summer, but we just have too much stuff and we need to make some room.
 Our acquisition department has been working overtime and the bargain goodies from over the years are overflowing the proverbial banks! This is a great opportunity to explore different artists or beefing up your collection without breaking the bank. We are marking down a ton of records, tapes and CDs for this one day event, RAIN or SHINE. It’s been years since our last yard sale and we are way long over due to clear out the back hall. There will be trash and treasure; 7 inch records 3 for $1, used CDs and cassette tapes 2 for $1 and boxes of $1 each stuff.
Besides the Yard Sale news, we have a stronger than usual roster of releases for the week. Check out the round up below of new studio records, live recordings being pressed to vinyl, reissues and a hefty compilation from the iconic blues label, Alligator Records. It's an exciting time to be in the record business. With the resurgence of vinyl, just about every week we are finding new and exciting things to geek out about. And just between you and me, we still love CDs! They're cheap, portable and sound great.

Continuing to bloom from her 2019 breakthrough Atlanta Millionaires Club, Webster's sound draws as much from the lap-steel singer-songwriter pop of the 1970s and teardrop country tunes as it does from the audacious personalities of her city's rap and R&B community. This album began for Webster with the stirring ballad "In a Good Way," as in "You make me want to cry in a good way"-an instantclassic Faye Webster one-liner. It's beguilingly simple, the kind of melody and arrangement that seem to have existed forever. A sense of relief charges the neo-psychedelic pop of "Cheers," where Webster experiments with an overdriven guitar tone. Many of her songs contain bits of girl-group-esque talk-singing, which color her atypical storysongs.

When The Mountain Goats got together in early March, 2020, it was to make not one album, but two. The idea this time around was to work with Matt Ross-Spang, the dashing Memphis wunderkind who'd engineered that album and charmed us all with his gentle wit and old-school savoir-faire. The Memphis album-Getting Into Knives, which came out last October-would be brighter, bolder, marked by rich and vibrant hues; the Muscle Shoals one-Dark in Here is quieter, smokier, but more deeply textured and intense.

Joni is happy! Which should make us all happy...It's hard to imagine that this record could ever have been under-appreciated but then again, humans like what they know and Joni was constantly growing and evolving as an artist; breaking any and all expectations listeners might have had. It's mind boggling really to listen to her music and hear and artists' expression so sophisticated yet pure. She painted many masterpieces yet this might be her finest work. God bless you Joni.

By 1991, the world's most celebrated trumpeter could look back on five decades of musical evolution. Miles Davis had found ways of marrying jazz with classical ideas, then later R&B, rock and funk, producing hybrid offspring that shaped the course of popular music and had come to define his legend. Davis played this electrifying set at the Vienne Jazz Festival with the Miles Davis Group on July 1, 1991. He passed away two months later in September 1991. This previously unreleased set includes two songs written by Prince, "Penetration" and "Jailbait".

These are two gems from My Morning Jacket's catalog have been out of print on vinyl for a while so we are excited to get these reissues from ATO. 2003's It Still Moves is a reverb drenched masterpiece and a real break through for the band that straddles the line of indie-rock and jam band distinctions. 2008's Evil Urges was not everybody's favorite when it landed but time has been kind to this record. Songs like I'm Amazed are prominently placed in their live sets and the record as a whole offer a nice transition to Jim James' solo records as well as the later output from MMJ (Circuital & The Waterfalls).
