20s Style: Not Like the Movies
Women in the 1920s were fashion conscious and dressed appropriately for every event. A hat and gloves were essential daytime accessories. But dresses in 1922 were still ankle length. It was further into the decade that "flappers" set the style and hemlines crept up.
Fishnet stockings, short fringe covered dresses, and gangster outfits emerged as 1960s-does-1920s throwback style.
For the guys, the twenties was a decade that respected tradition. Hats served as not only a symbol of respect but also indicated social status in a public setting. Bow ties were very much on trend and usually coordinated with pocket squares.
A Moving Experience
Plans are underway to move the Cumberland the first part of September, 2021. Contracts are signed and down payments made. With costs rising, it will take more than originally estimated. The Garden Party goal is to raise at least another $50,000 toward that project Cost to move the building 1 FOOT is about $50
And the Cumberland will be moved approx. 1,000 feet from its present location to its new home on Santiam and Pine.
