Open for tastings on December 10 and 11
We will be open for tastings from noon to 5 pm on both days. We will be celebrating A Mountain Holiday along with the other members of The Summit Wineries, a group of wineries in the Summit Road area. We’ll be tasting our latest releases, and we will have all the important c-words: cheese, crackers, chocolate, and candy canes. And if wine tasting isn’t enough to get you into a festive mood, we will have music from local musician Joey Bunnell on Sunday afternoon. 
This will be our last open house weekend of 2011. It will be a great time to shop for wines for your holiday festivities or for that special someone on your gift list!
2011 harvest report
As winter approaches, our 2011 vintages are aging in oak barrels. The winery is so peaceful, but over the past months, there has been a flurry of activity as we harvested, crushed, fermented, pressed, and racked off the wine. Oh, and we worried too. Those cool summer days, foggy nights, and early rains had us a bit on edge, but we believe that the grapes have triumphed over Mother Nature.
Early indications are that our 2011 wines will be delightful—full of fruit and balanced tannins and acids with moderate alcohol levels. Some of the 2011 wines will be offered as futures to Wine Club members at the Spring Wine Club pick-up party.

Taste our wine in downtown Los Gatos
Rootstock Wine Bar, a new wine bar located in downtown Los Gatos, now offers Villa del Monte Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay. In addition to featuring many local wines from the Santa Cruz Mountains appellation, Rootstock offers a wine-friendly menu of small bites and flatbreads.
New vineyards
Last year, we took on the management of two small (1-3 acre plots) Santa Cruz Mountains vineyards. We added one Cabernet and one Pinot vineyard. This is in addition to Villa Festa, a boutique Cabernet vineyard that we have managed for several years. Look for these new releases in mid-2012.
