Next week is London Climate Action Week! Whether you’ve already made plans to get involved or you’re still deciding what to do, here are some ideas to help you promote climate action in your school. Whatever you do, share your stories with us on socials using #LCAW2021 and #LondonSchools and let’s make London greener, healthier and wilder!
TeachMeet: Get Outdoors for Climate Action
We know getting outdoors - to play, learn, explore and take action - is the best way for children to build a connection to the planet. If you want to learn more, come along to the first ever London National Park City Schools* (LNPCSchools*) online TeachMeet on 1 July!  We’ll be inspired by leaders from early years, primary and secondary, and you’ll leave with real solutions to help you get outdoors at school. This event is a Curriculum Deep Dive webinar, part of the Schools Climate Summit within London Climate Action Week.

London Schools Climate Summit
The debut Schools Climate Summit, in partnership with the Mayor of London, London Councils, British Council, Royal Meteorological Society, Let's Go Zero, Global Action Plan, London National Park City Schools, London’s Sustainable Schools Network, Climate Psychology Alliance and others, starts on Tuesday 29 June and now has three days of events! New Doorways Podcast episode
The latest Doorways Podcast episode is now live. Martin interviews Rhuti Carr and Natasta Freedman from Studio 2909 in a brilliant episode called In Search of Aether. It features clips from students in three London schools. The next episode, with Dr Jess Tipton from London Schools Eco Network, is out on Friday.

Funding for play out of school hours
London Sport is distributing grants of up to £10,000 to schools in areas of high deprivation and with high obesity levels to support more of the capital's children to discover and maintain an active lifestyle. After-school and holiday play in primary schools is within the scope of this scheme.

Urban Greening for City Resilience
This event on 21 July brings together London National Park City Rangers with external experts to discuss rewilding, food growing, nature education, urban forests and community building, with real examples from across London. The aim is to bring people together around the shared goal of urban greening, to inspire and share knowledge, and to catalyse further action towards resilience.

To celebrate the 2nd anniversary of London becoming the world’s first National Park City, this special online event on 22 July will showcase 25 people who are doing things to make London greener, healthier or wilder. It will showcase 25 diverse voices, speaking on a wide range of topics and from every corner of the city.
